blaming refs
why is it only lower conferences that blame the refs when they play p5 teams, but other p5 teams don't blame the refs when they are on the road against another p5? just wondering since we have a few posters that always blame the refs04-cheers04-cheers04-cheers

RE: blaming refs
Because you don’t pay attention to P5 teams. They do it all the time. Every team has fans who complain about the refs.

P5’s whine all. The. Time. Worse than anything you see here.

Difference is all our teams want is a fair shake. P5’s demand all benefit of the doubt calls and feel entitled to catching breaks.

there hasn't been any suspect call in our game against the moo-moos....

we simply don't have the corching or the depth to compete anymore against the bigger schools....

There is not a fanbase in America immune from crying about refs. Not one.

Because, like everything else, there's a hierarchy. In this case a hierarchy of officials. The better officials officiate the best conferences/games. The worse officials officiate the worse conference/games.

Partly because the refs were from CUSA IMO. Had it been SEC refs then it would've been obvious early on with the phantom holding or lack of holding calls.

Exactly. No one complained about the refs in our game. In fact I was very thankful it was SEC refs and not CUSA refs who would have screwed us over.

It wasn’t SEC refs...It was CUSA refs. ESPN announced it.

RE: blaming refs
Only 1 instance where I was miffed at the refs Saturday. We got a first down in the last minute of the 1st half. Clock never stopped. We called TO with 3 seconds left, and the ref reset the clock to 5 seconds. Should have been around 20 seconds, I think. But we didn't even attempt a pass, so it made no difference, as we were playing scared.

UK basketball fans are the only fans that I know of that can shoot over 30 FTs in a game compared to their opponents 8-9 and complain that they were getting shafted!

regardless, you know the holding call flags would've reared their ugly head if it would've been competitive...then the mustard feathers would've unfurled...

we got away with a few just in the first half....

they called that game loose (which is what I easily prefer)
