It took a year for karma to come back to you after GT lost two captains in Tampa last year to really bad targeting calls. But it finally came back.

Well I hope you guys can take better advantage of it than we did last year. We're now on an 8 game losing streak, the longest in program history.

George O'Leary is the straw stirring the drink in Atlanta, not Collins. Every single member of staff that Collins didn't bring over is a direct O'Leary connection (Marco Coleman, for example). The public perception is .... look another coach from Temple. The real story is this is O'Leary 3.0 in Atlanta. 1.0 was O'Leary as DC under Ross. 2.0 was as HC with Friedgen as OC. 3.0 is as "GM" pulling strings to hire the right people.

Not that it's any indication, but maybe Wisconsin's decent this year?

Wisconsin indeed looks good. Still doesn't negate the fact that y'all blew a gift of a chance to go 1-1 v p5 this year. Could go winless either way in conference but that 4th quarter meltdown really screwed the conference.

Thou the result was not what I wanted, it was a good first half of football. GT looked ripe for a loss.

Blah blah blah Collins is coach.

USF, who may very well be lucky to go to a bowl game this year, losing a close game (and covering the spread) on the road to an at best middle of the road ACC team hardly "really screwed the conference."

Saw a few rays of hope today. McCloud came in and gave a big spark to offense. Did USF find it's QB of the future? Maybe. USF could and probably should have won this game. Cronkrite probably scored on the play called a fumble. He likely stuck the ball over the plane before fumbling USF gets that call and probably wins game 17-14.

Never understand this type of comment, especially when you look at the dozens of schools in far better "BCS" conferences in much more of a dire situation than usf athletically.

Our university has never been better. In American football we aren't very good, but are still more often than not in the top half of this conference.

We blew it or the refs blew it.

Cronkrite scored on the play called a fumble, but the camera angles were not conclusive.

USF made tons of boneheaded plays, but probably deserved to win 17-14.

So then what happened to all that Big East payout money preventing you from being competitive with AAC football? Where's all that money going?

To my understanding this pretty much is literally because George O'Leary stepped in and personally endorsed him with AD Todd Stansbury. Collins got his start on O'Leary's staff.

Geoff Collins (HC) -> O'Leary GA/RA, Gailey RC
Brent Key (AHC, OL) -> All-American Center for O'Leary
Will Glover (Offensive Q.C.) -> WR for O'Leary
Marco Coleman (DE/OLB) - All-American OLB for O'Leary

Lewis Caralla (Head Football S&C Coach) -> Former Asst S&C at GT under Johnson
Kevin Cone (Asst. Director of Football Operations) > WR under Gailey/Johnson
Tashard Choice (RB) -> All-ACC RB under Gailey
Nathan Burton (Co-DC/Safeties) -> Player under Gailey/Johnson.

All of the high profile positions not filled by Collins coaches brought over from Temple were direct and immediate O'Leary connections. A lot of the grunt back fill in the program are indirect Collins and direct GT connections.
