A lot of the boards are relatively inactive because they don't have enough traffic to attract new posters, like the B10, ACC, and SEC boards.

The ACC board here is active. The Big10 and SEC boards here do have routine activity but they're a check once a day kinda board at the moment.

I personally find Louisville a geographic misfit and ND football isn't ACC related. Post up about the Miami-UNC game this weekend and you'll get more takers.

Don't really care for either, but will be interested when UCF plays Pitt. Thanks for the info and hope Miami takes a dive.

yep

MWC board is the wild west with only a few rules and light moderation.

Depends on the board here. This board and, from time to time, The Spin Room, can be tightly moderated. The ODU board tends towards a tight ship as well. Most of the rest are loose. And from time to time the Memphis board gets dangerously close to Animal House. Penny seems to be mellowing them out nicely though. Loose is not the same as no standards and no moderation (anarchy / 4chan) though. We use advertising to pay the bills and advertisers aren't going to allow their ad to be placed near objectionable content, ergo we have some PG-13-ish minimal level of decorum we adhere to. It's not so bad since I dumped Google overboard on the ads. I still use ye olde Google on the Spin Room, because my current setup has advertisers that don't wanna touch political content at all. Google takes down monetization and gripes on at least one or two threads in the Spin Room every week or two. Haven't gotten gripes yet on content from the new setup. If it were up to me, for instance, there'd be no swear filter. But the preferences and expectations of the users overwhelm my personal preference. It's definitely the expectation among our users that there be some minimal level of filtering of inflammatory language. The Rice board probably wouldn't notice no swear filter. The Memphis board on the other hand could riot the first time a UT troll makes a bunch of posts using a racial pejorative for the city of Memphis and it isn't filtered.

Which is a really long winded way of saying ... it's complicated. We've got various fan bases with varying cultural and political and social expectations and norms.

Just a suggestion, I have no skin in the game... why not make it a West board? Rather than just Mountain West.

That way it also includes PAC-12, BYU, and WCC fans. Then you'd have enough to get a critical mass of posters.

That would be like mixing the AAC and SEC boards together. It would result in constant fighting and bitterness.

There’s plenty of BYU fans on the MWC board. Before the WAC imploded, it used to have plenty of Boise, Fresno and Nevada fans making the case for their school to be included. Kinda like the old Big East board which used the get a fair share of C-USA fans making their case for a spot in a BCS conference (and the reason why this board was born). Some UTEP fans (including myself) used to troll the MWC board especially when we played New Mexico but I stopped posting there years ago. TCU and Utah fans disappeared once they joined their respective power conferences.

There’s a Pac-12 board but it’s kinda dead. Not surprised though.

A little more on that... our residential colleges at Rice each have their own cheers. Their effectiveness is judged primarily by the quantity and quality of the profane content.

We try to be on our best behavior out in the real world, but we’re not too easily offended by language...

... unless it’s grammatically incorrect.
Now THAT really p*%#^s us off!
