I've never understood the point of these things. Memphis will win the games they win regardless of how people vote in some silly poll. Is there some kind of prize for the person that gets closest? What about tie breaks?

Ha, I had the same thought. This is really mostly a popularity poll for who likes a team and who doesn't. Only reason I voted (10-2) was to counter the crazies.

P.S. Those of you who think we lose to Ole Miss at home, last time (2015), they were #13 in the country, and we took it to them. Actually dominated them from the 2nd quarter on. Last year, they were 4-8, and right now, we are 6 point favorites.

I went with 10-2, mostly b/c we have 4 games we could lose, so I split them. Said we would beat Ole Miss and at Temple and lose at Houston and to Cincinnati.

I guess the at USF game is a fifth possibility of a loss, so 9-3 or 10-2 seems reasonable.

Lot of folks betting on UH over Memphis apparently. I'd be more inclined to think Cincy would be the tougher in-conference game but then again it's a home game for Memphis. So I just said 12-0.......

It's quite simple really. I put into excel the names of everyone who has voted in the polls to come up with a number. That number is compared with the votes each team received.

For example: If 100 people voted in total, and 95 of those votes picked a Memphis win over Southern, then that means the board is 95% confident Memphis will win. What I call a "Strong win"

0-40% is a strong loss
40-60 is a toss up
60-100% is a strong win

after that it's just compiling the expected wins / losses into records, maybe picking a few tie breakers and voila, predicted football records

I get all that. You can compile it however you like. I was simply explaining to those who were asking about the numbers that the basic poll on this site only calculates individual lines as a percentage of the total votes.
