...a mighty rough ride. (sorry about the misspelling.....it's been a long day....)

http://www.AthlonSports.com

They're only up to no. 8 in their rankings and already 5 of the teams are present on our schedule. Throw in any bowl teams from last year and it's apparent we better improve in a hurry if we want to go bowlin' this season.

I keep waiting on the rest of the SEC to slow down and let us catch up, but they never do. What gives? :crying:

Gal, the SEC has almost every major and minor sport covered. We knew that coming in - I am still glad to be in this conference though.

I think we are in the right place.

I fixed your typo, btw

I wouldn't worry about Athlon too much, they always mess up on their rankings. Back in 96 or '98, they ranked the Washington Huskies #1. Where did the Huskies end up? Way outta the NC race. Way to go Athlon.

Galactus,

You might as well just stop reading preseason mags because chances are they'll cause you much depression. I doubt they'll give us a lot of props for the upcoming season. Why should they?

We're basically young & unproven, but we play a tougher schedule than last year. There's no need for me to repeat my thoughts about the upcoming season, & the short term future of USC football. I'll just say that I think we are gaining on most (not all) of the league, but you probably wont see it this year. You will in '04.

Well, you KNOW i'm gonna read 'em! 03-wink But aren't we all?

Yeah.....it's kinda tough. Preseason mags always go by the "what have you done for me lately" approach unless you're one of the traditional powers. In other words, if Florida State slipped to 5-7 one season, chances are several mags would still rank the Noles in the following season's preseason rankings.

But in our case, those wins over OSU are already forgotten, and we've been relegated to the back of the line once again. That didn't take long, did it? :frown: But that's the way it is......

At least it's not as bad as SI picking Oregon State to win it all in 2001.

Last year, SportingNews was the only major pub to pick UGA to win the East & SEC.
