if he is going to bring in any good recruits he needs to get on the ball...hit some good CC's like Pearl or North West Miss. and get some good guys and find a few HS players...and he needs to do it soon...oh...has he put a staff together???

Good Luck,

Found this on EagleTalk, where it had been copied from HoopScoop:

Georgia Editor Linzy Davis has the latest scoop on 6'3 Rashaad Carruth from Indian Hills (JC) IA, who was ranked as the #1 shooting guard in the junior college ranks by the Sporting News Pre-Season Yearbook, and it appears that he has decided to attend Southern Mississippi.

And this is interesting for a number of reasons. First, Carruth not only is one of the best 3-point shooters that we've seen in recent years, but he also was ranked #19 nationally in our final rankings of the Class of 2001 when he was a senior at Mouth of Wilson (Oak Hill) VA. Second, Carruth has a history of substance abuse and, as a result, he has something in common besides basketball with new Southern Miss head coach Larry Eustachy, who is a recovering alcoholic. And our guess is that this may have been one of the primary factors in Carruth's decision. Third, Carruth also has a history of being a malcontent and, as a result, Eustachy, who is a tough hardnosed disciplinarian, should be exactly what the doctor ordered for Carruth, if he ever wants to live up to his incredible talent and potential. Fourth, the addition of Carruth moves Southern Mississippi's recruiting class, which already includes 6'4 Henry Salter from Gulfport (H.S.) MS, into a tie at #73, along with Tennessee and Villanova, on our list of the Top Recruiting Classes To-Date for the Class of 2004.

And they don't appear to be done yet, as our Mississippi Editor Lavel Johnson tells us that the Golden Eagles also appear to be going after a number of junior college players and they are among the final three for 5'11 Charlie White from Jackson (Provine) MS, who is ranked #66 nationally in the senior class by the HOOP SCOOP and appears to have reneged on Mississippi State. The Bulldogs are still at right at the top of White's list, but, if he doesn't qualify academically, that would open the door for Southern Miss or Jackson State to walk in and pull off a major recruiting coup. And, if Southern Mississippi gets White, that would move their recruiting class into at tie at #35, along with Pittsburgh and N.C. State on our list of the Top Recruiting Classes To-Date for the Class of 2004. However, even more important, it would give Eustachy two of the best incoming guards in college basketball next season, as well as a great nucleus around which to build the program.
