That qualifies. They went 10-2 with a Sugar Bowl win against Texas. 1995.

UC has never done it on the field, it being a win over an elite team. I like everything Fickell is doing, but until it results in an on-field upset, we're always going to get this criticism.
Mostly true although 20 years ago the W against Wisconsin would qualify. They won the the Big Ten and Rose Bowl that year.
With a Heisman Trophy RB (Ron Dayne).
We also beat Penn State in 1983-- who had just won the National Championship the previous season.
PSU went 8-4 that season, bowl win Aloha against Washington.

Minter's program was just a roller coaster of ups and downs. true we beat wisconsin and even followed it up by giving osu all they could handle the next week. but only after losing to an fcs team at home and then finishing the season 3-8. so unfortunately beating wisconsin wasn't an 'arrived party' for the program nationally, but more of a wtf did wisconsin just do moment.

Sadly, you're not wrong. Boise State's entire national identity is based on their one win over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. It's time to take that next step as a program and get that identity-changing victory.
not sure thats entirely true or fair. they've averaged nearly 11 wins per season for 20 years now. even in a g5 conference thats incredible. they've averaged a p5 win per year since 2002. have won 12 bowls including 3 fiesta bowls. finished the season ranked 12 times including 3 top 10 finishes.
seriously the more im looking at these guys i say bring them into the conference! Massive upgrade over uconn.

Football only, they would be fine. I would love to see 3 western schools out of BYU, Boise, San Diego State, Air Force, and Colorado State come on as football-only members. For that to work, those schools (other than BYU who is already there) would have to be able to park their other sports in the WCC. Although that league is currently all private colleges, they have had public members in the past, and aside from maybe Air Force, any of the schools mentioned above would upgrade the WCC in basketball -- thus, keeping Gonzaga happy.

We should only be adding schools that contribute all sports. The last major conference that added members with less than full membership imploded and resulted in our current predicament.

I wouldn't worry too much about the AAC imploding. It's not like we are going to be forced to join the MAC or C-USA if that happens. We will always be in the "best of the rest" conference until/if we get the P5 call-up.
