QB Tiers
https://www.cbssports.com/college-footba...transfers/

Tier 2 (Darkhorse Heisman)

D’Eriq King Houston
Brady White - Really Memphis fans?

Tier 4 (Breakout Primed)

Anthony Russo Temple
Malcolm Perry Navy

Tier 5 (Impact Transfer)

Brandon Wimbush
Shane Buechele

CBS got it right with this one imo because it wasn’t a straight up ranking which are always terrible. It was based on the top guys in each tier, they probably should have used the word category.

If I had to pick 2 breakout QBs then I’d pick the same 2 guys. Perry is going to be a monster this year without a doubt. And Anthony Russo is probably the guy who intrigued me most from a Pro Style passer standpoint, with a full offseason as the starter under his belt albeit with a new HC and OC.

King I could see being in the Heisman race before fading late. White is solid I guess. I think the assumption may be that Memphis is heavily favored in all their games so he’s elevated in the race. He barely made the cut there.

RE: QB Tiers
So to be clear...what makes someone a breakout candidate while someone else isn't?

Look at this statline and tell me how it isn't better than most of the guys on this list outside of the 1st two tiers?

194-311, 2445 yards, 20 TDs/5 INTs w/ 572 rush yards and 5 TDs and an 11-2 record as a starter

I'm surprised Ridder wasn't in Tier 3 given how well he played throughout last year, but alas, the disrespect will always come.

I think you answered you own question. That stat line and win total obviously doesn’t make him a breakout candidate so Tier 4 is out. And to be in Tier 3 you have to be a Top 30 QB going into this season based on their rankings so maybe they had him as the 31st best QB. That’s not disrespect. They explained Tier 3 was the biggest one and therefore has the most omissions. That said would I be surprised if they looked at his stat line through a G5 lens? No I wouldn’t.

White is pretty consistent. Threw for over 3,000 yards a lot of TD’s and under 10 Int. His problem is anything over 15 yards. This year should be interesting and he has eligibility for another year.

As a Memphis fan , I didn’t realize we a got another Brady White, to replace the Brady White I watched last season. Now I’m really excited!

Desmond Ridder was literally just ranked the #2 QB in the AAC in the Athlon rankings recently posted in here.

RE: QB Tiers
The starting QB's look to be a pretty deep bunch in the AAC this year. When you have people like Tulsa's Zach Smith ranked #10 preseason that's saying something.

Having great QB play results in good publicity for the league as well. If McKenzie Milton was still healthy and playing we would be blowing the roof off this place. Still, things are looking up.

I will second this. The wide receiver issue is fixed. If the left side of the line is shored up, watch out!

Please, Please, Please, Please, Please continue to underestimate Holton Ahlers. Better beat him this year because he will be dominate his Jr. and Sr. campaigns. Print it!!!!

I second that. We now have a coach and OC that knows how to use QB talent. I even think that Reid Herring will be a more capable QB under Houston and Kirkpatrick. Holton will be on that list next year. I also think Holton should of been added to tier IV. This will be his breakout year.
