Wolken was the "journalist" seeding doubts about his integrity by offering to cooperate in pushing an agenda with a person (the ex-UTK AD) he is suppose to cover objectively and independently. He compounded his troubles by his haughty and tone-deaf response and by needless needling of Vol fans (although as a Tiger fan I enjoyed it).

Wolken has zero credibility with me.

This piece is great for us. GP is our voice to other national columnists. The team has to win, but he is helping with our national perception. Does he take credit for weird stuff? yeah. But so what. He WAS right. And he did help expose Tubby's shortcomings. We now have Penny and are killing the off season. We still have pundits out there ready to pounce and GP is simply informing them in an assertive way. Not aggressive and certainly not passive. Maybe it will help smooth over the national perception of MEMPHIS. The perception of MEMPHIS among sports writers effects rankings. I'm all for marketing us in a positive way.....even if it takes a little of "see, I told ya so."
