Baseball Roster Question....
2007 ECU Baseball Preview

I was reading the preview, and the following section left me scratching my head...

Quote:Forbes, a Greenville, N.C. product from J.H. Rose High School, spent the last three years at Campbell University where he played in 124 career games and batted .260 with 13 home runs and 78 RBI. Last year with the Camels, Forbes had a breakout year as he blasted a career-high eight home runs and batted .300 with 43 RBI. He is expected to help pick up the offensive pop in the bottom half of the Pirates lineup.

The guy is a senior. How on earth does he not have to sit out a year?

As I recall the NCAA does not require baseball transfers to sit out a year.

I thought that T-law had to sit out a year when he left Barton.

Not sure how the rules are written but I know Ryan Peisel played for ECU in 05 transferred to Georgia and immediately started for UGA in 06, making it to the CWS.

So, why would we pick up a senior?

We didn't have a catcher thats why. Plus he is a Greenville boy and he had a good season last year. So why not pick him up if he wanted to come play here?

Not trying to get all pissy about it, just asking a question as to why?

Cool. I like the fact that the kid is a local product, but I just thought it would make more sense to start cultivating a new star. Maybe that is what we are doing...Oh well.
