CBS censors its own show

The Good Fight can only be seen on CBS All Access (which I do have but I don't believe I've ever watched that show). It features Christine Baranski and is a spin-off from the show The Good Wife taking place in a Chicago law firm.

Well apparently the show has a little animated segment which they feature at the end of every episode, and this past week's animated short was a bit too controversial for CBS' liking. It 'presumably was going to clue viewers in on the morally flexible lengths some U.S. companies will go to in order to break into the lucrative Chinese market (which tied into the episode’s B-story involving the fictional search engine behemoth ChumHum)'.

But instead of showing the animated short as the show was going to its credits, they saw the above graphic instead.

Odd because the Twilight Zone reboot which also airs on CBS All-Access (and which I've commented on previously here) certainly is not shy about going after controversial content. I guess going after Trump is fine but going after the Chinese is a bit too much.

Trump only represents a potential 63 million customers for their advertisers. China DOES represent 1.4 billion potential customers. Can't piss the commies off or risk losing out in all that money.

Or was it Google they were afraid to go after?

I watch The Good Fight and can tell you---they don't shy away from controversy. This show (and the Good Wife) both shine when they stick to telling interesting stories that frame how technology has moved far ahead of the law. Unfortunately, the show has lost its way and has devolved into a clumsy Trump bashing forum that is silly, juvenile, and humorless. The juvenile part is where the animated segment comes in---its basically a "School House Rock" style short inserted at some point in the show to explain a legal concept or to define a term being used by characters. Most tend to have some heavy ham handed anti-Trump angle and include a caricature of the president.

It takes courage to fight against China. Picking on Trump requires zero backbone.
