I agree.
Whichever of our guards can become the best 3 point shooter should see more playing time. It'd be great having one-or even more than one-lethal 3 point threat.

He can play, probably our best player ever to walk on.

Major hops.

Yep, but starting next season he'll be on scholarship which is fitting. He walked on this season so he could come here. Him being a red shirt is great too. We'll get 4 years of him playing and at 6'6 he'll be great for us on the wing. He was a top 230 recruit, but he has improved his vertical something like 8 inches, and has developed into a better player over the course of this season and will improve more this off season.

I know Penny has said that but i wouldnt be surprised if he wasn't on scholarship next season

If I’m not mistaken the deal with Boyce was he had already signed papers to UAB so to come here he had no choice but to walk on the first year when he chose to give that up. Unless he can get some kind of outside scholarship like Andre Allen did he will be on athletic scholarship next year. He didn’t give up a free ride to pay for all 4 years himself. I think penny said this in one of his interviews at some point. The part about him being ineligible for aid this year and can come on scholly after sitting out.

Yeah by all accounts Boyce is a scholarship worthy player and will be on scholarship going forward. He was a big get for UAB. RB obviously really wanted to come to Memphis since he walked on this season.
