He's actually started at the hybrid S/LB "Sniper" spot. My early guess is Wright, Young and Beavers being the 1s at LB for UCLA...

Does that speak to Potts/White and their development or lack thereof in the off season? LB seemed like a pretty set position group, seems odd that a kid who has credit on DL wouldn't get a run there given all of the turnover in that group.

Been a while since we had two guys in the starting rotation with that sort of length and size

Pitts and Tucky are at the Jack position with Mouhon and Sanders at SDE. Beavers is a great athlete at 6’3” and 245 pounds, so he’s going to find his way on the field IMO...

Makes sense, just figured after White's play at the back end that he would find his way onto the field, but I guess they're looking for a different body in the open slot in the LB depth chart.

I think as we saw last year, we play a lot of guys on defense. I think regardless of who ultimately starts that both guys will get a lot of action this year.

Absolutely...with how much we blitz, it'll definitely help having a significant rotation of interchangeable parts.

The two areas I think we have opportunities are at WR and on the DL. We still don't have a true #1 receiver at WR. I do expect they will flex out Josh Whye and create some mismatches, and suspect Jayshon Jackson, Trent Cloud and Javon Hawes should all have even more productive seasons than last.
The DL will have a completely new look than last. There will be an adjustment period, although I do think there is potential there with some good athletes in Mike Pitts, Myjai Sanders, Curtis Brown, Marcus Brown, Elijah Ponder and Malik Vann.
Pitts looks like an absolute freak out there at times. If he can ever put it all together he could play on Sunday's. He and Bryan Wright are by far the two most physically imposing players on that side of the ball. And both have shown glimpses of being dominant.
As for the young guys Sanders is the one that I have my eye on. His build is also kind of freakish and I thought his high school film a few years ago was really impressive.
Pitt frustrated me at times with some dumb mistakes, but I always had to remind myself he was just a sophomore. Like you said, once he figures it out the sky is the limit.
The transfer from UConn, Darrian Beavers, is apparently a freak as well- 6'4 250. He is going to be playing that hybrid DE/LB spot. Colerain grad.
I'm absolutely stunned at Beavers size. If he had been that big at Colerain he likely would have been an elite prospect. He was an extremely productive player in high school. Always flying to the ball, making a ton of plays but he couldn't have been more than 5'11 185-190 lbs back then. Just incredible to see these size numbers for him now. Unreal.

^^ Chad corrected and said 6'3, 245 but still--
As we know with recruiting, sometimes some these guys phyically bloom a year or two later than others.

I recently saw a video on Chad's site, strength coach talking about "re-measuring" Desmond Ridder. He has now grown to 6'4". If he had been that tall in HS, we probably would have had more competition for him.
I would love to see a comparison of player on signing day to current. (A lot of work for someone.)

I happen to think Jackson showed himself to be really dependable in making catches in tight spots. Not saying he'll be a Shaq Washington for us next season, but I think the kid's already pretty good.

He did. I am saying he’ll take another step forward.
