Because of his hair or making love to beautiful women?

Or how smart they both are.

No he didn't.

People--not just you but everywhere--need to understand the difference between an analogy and a direct comparison.

Woah, silver.

I know the difference but I will rephrase for sake of brevity.

Mark Gianatto used Donald Trump and Penny Hardaway in the same sentence but y'all are going in on Smith?

There is a difference between nut sweat and a$$ sweat, too, but it ain't much.

I think many of you are missing the point I made in the OP about the media liking something until they don't.

But decent dialog nonetheless.

Predictably, local media is subtly starting to turn on him. We can expect it out of Mark G. He's not from around here, certainly never been a fan, and is a tool after all. He has questioned some of the hotter takes Penny has had.

But now, Jason seems to be taking on this role. I've actually grown to like Jason and never saw this coming. First, Jason questioned Penny's comments on Rick Barnes. Now, Jason has been continuing to question Penny's comments on Kyvon.

Jason implies Penny's comments on Kyvon had an impact on KD's disappearing act at Cincy. Ignoring the Temple game that happened right after Penny's comments and in which KD actually played respectably. And also ignoring the fact that KD has been disappearing on the road all year long.

Another case where the media sets you up to knock you down.

We’ve had some assinine threads before but this takes the cake. No one on Memphis radio is turning on penny. It’s actually funny to hear someone make that up. Lol.

And to anyone saying that he compared to Trump has comprehension issues. Also so what if he used Trump and Penny in the same sentence.

Jason and John are basically an advertisement for the basketball program. To dig and find something to be offended about is hilarious.

The only reason I ever listen to them is because they are such Memphis homers.

Universities in other AAC cities would die for the attention we get daily on radio and in the CA and the Daily Memphian.

I lived in Dallas/Fort Worth for 11 years, and they never talked about SMU football on the radio. It's the Dallas Cowboys almost 24/7, then a little Mavs and Rangers and the hockey Stars if they made the playoffs. If they ever talked college football, it was national games and Texas and A&M and Oklahoma.

And the radio guys couldn't even tell you who the basketball coaches were at SMU and TCU.

This can not be explained to people that don't see why that's wrong right off the bat.

Keep wondering.

Don't smell your finger.

I’m in NJ, all we get is Philly radio (which is fine by me, Phillies fan, Harper baby!!) but they NEVER talk about Nova basketball. When they won the national championship they talk about it the next day but that’s it. Memphis radio is awesome in terms of college sports talk.

Yep, I say the same thing all the time. Spent some time in St Louis years ago. You had Blues, Cardinals, Rams (all 3 good at the same time). Not one person I talked to knew the first thing about SLU or any other area college and didn't care.

Did someone say cake?

I shouldn't have generalized my OP with "turning on him". By and large, local media are yuge supporters, and J&J especially. What I really meant was on the one specific thing about Penny's straight talk. And when looking at that one item - independent of the overall J&J show, or the general reception of Penny - there is actual evidence that Jason has been hypocritical. He has said Penny should not have gone after Barnes, and he implied Penny's critique of KD has hurt his play. It's really just that one point about the hypocrisy of the media "loving open and straight talk".

I can see what you are saying with that or at least how you can perceive that . . I thought you meant it as a whole which would obviously be untrue.
