Better than students wasting all their parents' money on hookers and blow.

Memphis BOT is proposing a student increase to $23 per hour, which would place Memphis at #5 in the conf:

Ah...but SMU Students can do both! Money is no object for some families. :)

They will spend student loans on athletic fees plus take out credit card debt for hookers and blow. Unless you're an athlete at Louisville. Then it is free plus $100,000 cash payment.

When I travel...I normally use "Robert Kraft's Guide to Relaxation on the morning of a AFC Championship Game that is in another city so you have to relax first then jump on your private plane to go to the game, all so you can have a relaxed look when the TV cameras look into your Suite for in-game reactions".

Hey, those student fund honorariums to pay for the caddilacs in the homecoming parade have to come from somewhere...

You keep saying 2018, but it is FY 2018, which runs from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018, which means the 2017 football season and the 2017-18 basketball season.

This is just basic math. Sum total divided by smaller enrollment=more Sum total divided by larger enrollment=less

Tulane is not a big school, and yet we keep our fees to $120 at FT. I am low-key happy that we aren't rinsing teenagers as our athletic budget increases.

That’s a pretty big oversimplification. Most TU students get substantial need-based aid. Yeah there are students who are privileged, but it’s more diverse than its reputation.

Tulane’s athletic fees being low isn’t necessarily a good thing by the way. One of the reasons our athletic budget is low is because the administration has historically been unreasonably opposed to leveraging the same subsidy every other school in our league is tapping into.

Silver lining: It means that if we did want to raise fees, we would not be doing something that is extraordinary relative to our current conference.

I was a partial academic scholarship kiddie, hence my aversion to this method of fundraising.

This to me is one of the more interesting and instructive things in the presentation. Quick note that this is one proposal. The other is increasing ticket prices...which will most likely happen. They aren't asking for a vote, just asking to evaluate it more (athletic fee structuring).

Is U-6 still accredited? I heard they were in danger of losing their accreditation....

Yes...2018...(believe most Univ calendar year ends on June 30th).

You are not a big school...but you are a PRIVATE SCHOOL...which generally means a lot higher costs (tuition, fees, etc...) which leads to targeting a more wealthy population to pay said fees.

Info is from UM...from their school website as this material is being discussed at their BOT meeting this week:
