houston was technically done with its football upgrades..but dana came in and said he doesnt like the fact the football administrative side has to share a building with other sports..now we are going to build an administrative football building

and also houston sells out for every coach that wins ..the down side of houston is just the high expectations..but no coach thinks they are going to suck

All of these supposed inherent advantages and better coaches yet Houston has one conference championship in 13 years

Actually 2 championships in 13 years. Its worth noting we played in 4 CCG's during that period. I'd say the coaching "pay advantage" didnt really begin until around 2015/2016 when we committed to paying Herman 3 million. Even after Herman---we kinda went bargain basement with Applewhite. Basically, we are willing to pay top candidates, when available, mid-tier P5 money. The "when available" part is the real limiting factor.

I’ll count out 13 for you.

2007 1
2008 2
2009 3
2010 4
2011 5
2012 6
2013 7
2014 8
2015 9
2016 10
2017 11
2018 12
2019 13

Ummm---we havent played the 2019 football season yet. So, the last 13 seasons would include the Houston 2006 championship season.

Ummm I said years.

We can also change it to Houston’s 2 outright championships in 39 seasons if that makes you feel better.

We have to compete with UT, TAMU, TTU, Baylor, TCU, the OU twins and LSU for recruits, media attention, and our coaches'. Don't know how its gets much harder than that.

Reasonable people can disagree, but I would rather compete with the Texas crew for attention and recruits than the Florida one.

Or we can talk about ECU's one conference victory in the last 2 years. Maybe you guys should change your emblem from a pirate to an anchor. 05-stirthepot

That’s Scotty Montgomery’s one conference victory. ECU will be a 7-8 win team this year.

Heres how you win championships.

Frankly, I don't think the coaching gigs at either Houston or USF are very attractive, unless you enjoy playing games in front of thousands of empty seats.

becuase coaches care that much about that?? and not the tools to win...

So using your logic, do you think Texas doesn't have advantages over Baylor? After all, UT hasnt won a Big 12 championship in a decade while Baylor has 2 since then

Well UT has more than 6 outright championships in the history of their entire program. After all, most programs in the AAC have 6 or more outright championships.

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what advantages you claim to have, it’s about putting trophies in the case.

What a dumb comment. UH is co-champ of the southwest conference in 1976 but represents the conference in the Cotton Bowl by winning the tie breaker. The team finishes #4 in the nation. But you think ECU's Southern Conference championship that same season means more because it was outright?

ECU was independent for more than 40 years and still has more outright championships. Embarrassing.

As embarrassing as finishing ranked twice in the AP poll in your entire history and not finishing ranked in almost 30 years? Not only were none of your players born before the last time you finished ranked, I'm guessing some of your coaches weren't

I cant believe a fan of a school averaging less than 2 conference wins a year is talking smack. UH won more conference games in a year it fired its coach than ECU has won in total over the last 3 years

ECU doesnt finished ranked as much because ECU wasn’t a lucky sperm. If ECU’s name was North Carolina University they would have finished ranked more times than Houston has beaten ECU which still isn’t saying much.

Why is Houston still only 7-7 against ECU despite being spotted 4 wins by John Thompson and Scotty Montgomery. Really says a lot doesn’t it.

Not sure what world you’re living in but in my world 12/5>2

You clearly don’t pay much attention if you don’t know why ECU only won one conference game. You’ll know why soon though. Dana Holgorsen is a terrible coach.

Actually the facts say Houston started playing ECU immediately following one of their few conference championships albeit a contested one in a 6 team league and that the 2000’s were one of the most successful decades of Houston football ever. And they lost to ECU a lot. The facts say that too.

Because we started playing you during the worst stretch in our programs history.

Actually the facts say Houston started playing ECU immediately following one of their few conference championships albeit a contested one in a 6 team league and that the 2000’s were one of the most successful decades of Houston football ever. And they lost to ECU a lot. The facts say that too.

From '97-'02 ECU went 4-1 against UH. Those were Helton and Dimel years. Those two coaches combined for the worst 10 year stretch in program history. If you want to hang your hat on those wins thats fine. Doesn't change the fact that UH is 2-0 against yall in the American winning both games by over 20 points.

False. 1999 Houston was 7-4, 2002 Houston was 5-7. Typical seasons.

Facts. Houston has 4 of their wins against John Thompson and Scotty Montgomery, all 1-3 win teams. ECU has beaten 7-5, 8-5, 10-4 Houston teams. Houston has beaten two ECU teams with a winning record. 6-5 and 9-4. Houston is the one who has racked up 4 wins against bad coaches with another win coming in a 5-7 transition year between coaches. Houston has beaten 2 normal ECU teams. ECU has beaten 5 normal Houston teams.

The facts bear it out, when both teams put out typical products, ECU wins more often than not.
