Rice&MTSU have the edge with a two-game lead in the standings over UTEP & The University of Charlotte.

But either the miners or niners can catch one of the leaders by just going 3-1 if MTSU or Rice finish 1-3.

Neither Rice, nor MTSU can clinch today, due to tiebreakers even a three-game lead would not clinch (yet).

This is a must win for us. We wouldn’t be completely eliminated but very close to it. Fun fact on UTEP since 12/22/18 we have won one game then followed it up with three straight losses. If this pattern is to continue we will lose today.

Geez! How the Mighty Have Fallen. So, what you're telling me is if MT beats Charlotte and wins one more we get to travel to the luxurious metropolis of Frisco, Texas where we get to have our butts kicked as the lowest seed in the entire CUSA Tourney? SWEET

Rice normally looks forward to baseball but it's already wait until 2020 for Rice baseball unfortunately. We are now a women's basketball school.

Nope. Charlotte could still finish 3-0 and if Rice also were to lose at home vs MTSU the CLT would catch Rice and have the tiebreaker.

I was able to listen to the two overtimes on streaming audio. One thing I’ll say about our team is they never give up.
UTEP has been a tough out all season and not just in pod3, either.

Next games are March 3. Rice & MTSU are still tied and share a 3-game lead on UTEP & Charlotte.

Rice would clinch Frisco with a win vs MTSU (or a Charlotte loss)

MTSU would clinch Frisco with a win vs Rice (or a UTEP loss)

UTEP would remain alive with a win vs Charlotte AND a MTSU loss. (And would then Control their destiny despite being two games behind)

Charlotte would remain alive with a win vs UTEP AND a Rice loss (And would then control their destiny)

Pod play definitely keeps it interesting, one more reason is these pod games have potential tiebreaker meaning. In Pod 3 we finish with home-and-home against the same team. In two of the four possible scenarios after next week, we could very well have a team two games behind with two games left... but that still controls their destiny with making the tournament. You almost never see that in any sport and it’s one more reason I like the new system.

(These Tiebreakers are now settled:
Rice owns tiebreaker against UTEP 1-1 head to head, best win against USM (pod 1). UTEP best win vs FIU (And is 0-2 vs UTSA).
MTSU owns tiebreaker against Charlotte 2-0 sweep)

Ding! Ding!
Charlotte wins to eliminate UTEP and punch MTSU’s ticket, then Rice wins to become the 12th team to qualify for Frisco (and eliminate Charlotte).

Rice inside track on 11 seed, magic number to clinch is one.

And SO UNFAIR that MTSU has UNFAIR strength of schedule advantage over last two games by getting 2 vs last place Miners while we have to play two vs dangerous up-and-coming Charlotte.
