ESPN is going to expect the FULL conference to be good and not just the top 8 or 9 to he good.

I think I read in a previous post that it may be an 8 year or greater deal. If so I'm thinking it's going to be an amount in our sweet spot with a yearly escalation to stay within some reasonable range of the p5 while leaving the g4 behind.

Agree, but people in power tend to state conservative figures because it is better for perception purposes to over deliver than fail to meet a target.

I agree. Let's not forget 2 yrs ago everyone was publicly begging the B12 to take them. $6mill its P5 money but if our schools thrived off $2 mill, $6mill is MONEY!!

We're wrapping up...meaning they have an agreement and just need to finalize it.

He said he is absolutely pleased...and he previously said he would be happy with $8 million.

My take as well after listening to his comments. The fact that he is happy and in the past said 8 to 12 was in reach, I am sticking with 11 to 12 . He sounded very happy.?

Some of you also don't seem to know how this works.

The conference will vote on this, so how close they are to putting an offer before the presidents is the best that can be said, since only three people have been working on it according to him.

What he is wrapping up is the offer from ESPN, that will then be taken to the President's for approval. This is not even news, of course ESPN is finishing up their offer before the exclusive period.

No matter what, we can not take a deal worse than what ESPN offers. Which means if ESPN is offering us 8 million he should be very pleased as that can only increase not decline.

As I said before we have entered the auction stage. How much ESPN would bid is the beginning of the end. NBC or anyone else would have to bid above ESPN and would probably be ready with an offer as soon as they see ESPN's bid. Either they outbid ESPN or it's over.

How long did it take last time from ESPN, to the NBC offer, to the ESPN match? Two weeks maybe?

There has to some thought to expansion if the deal is $8 or more. If the American could bring in properties like BYU, Boise, SDSU, and potentially Gonzaga/Army, then ESPN locks in a true tweener conference at a bargain price. Even more so if the college football playoffs expand, and 1 spot is for "the best non-P5" champ. If only ESPN had some influence/knowledge on the future of the CFP.

Let's hope it's good. I wonder if this will finally shut the CUSA fools up about being on par with the American, or did the tv deal they cut 2 years ago for less than half a million per team already do that?

Either way, it's a shame that Bearcats#1 will be in the SEC since Cincy is so sought after.
