Just curious, which school in the conference don't charter flights?

Memphis does, Wichita does.

Helping yourself while also cannibalizing another league (A-10) is a double whammy. I was again so impressed with the crowd at Koch tonight. 100 miles to the northwest from me is a similar program in VCU. Invite them and if they accept, Dayton would probably have no choice but to also tag along if we decide that an odd number of teams is not desirable.

The only minor negative is that I hate those extra 11-14, 12-13 play in games in the conference tournaments.

I have always agreed with this. Both have great fan support (which we need in this conference) and fill up their arenas. It would also give ECU a local in conference basketball rival in VCU and get us into the Virginia markets as well as give Cincinnati another basketball rival.

Dayton is not a rival for Cincinnati basketball. We've owned them for six decades. No one considers them a basketball power, although their irrational fans think they are some kind of college hoops blueblood. They had a nice little run a few years ago under Archie Miller when they got in the NCAA tourney and made a surprising run to the Elite 8, but Miller parlayed that into a huge contract at Indiana and Dayton has disappeared after that. They can't even win consistently in the crappy league that the A-10 has become. When you are in a league with Fordham, Rhode Island, LaSalle, George Washington and Duquesne and still can't win consistently, you don't represent a good bet for a step up .

Without a Conference challenge:

TEMPLE: Existing Philadelphia 5 Challenge
UConn: UConn & Yale? from CT, UMass & BC from MA, Providence & URI from RI (Call it the New England Challenge?)

... Something similar for other AAC Schools creating annual local revelries/Challenges

Just a thought...

You are mixed up. KFC is for the charter jet. The private jet serves different fare (eg, dry ribs). 03-wink

How many people west of New Haven, CT do you think would want to watch that? Actually, how many people anywhere would want to watch that?

I was thinking of creating local interest which would be high, in addition, if you have 5+ schools (with good strength of schedule) involved that's 5+ less chances of a UConn (for example) scheduling Central Connecticut as an example.

The Philadelphia Big 5 consists of the University of Pennsylvania, La Salle University, Saint Joseph's University, Temple University, and Villanova University and is a big deal in Philadelphia.

Not every AAC team has enough quality City competition to duplicate what Philadelphia is doing. Dallas (SMU) can do it, but the other schools would have to do regional Challenge which might result in scheduling better competition.

If Aresco and the conference can workout a scheduling alliance that might further further improve strength of schedule depending who the other conference is.

RE: How can we be the BEST College Basketball Conference?
This isn't something that will happen overnight. The better we are as a conferance the easier it will be for example SMU to schedule TCU, UNT, Teas Arlington, TAMU, Texas Tech...

Just a SAMPLE, don't kill me I haven't researched what schools are there... I can Name 10 in NYC in a heartbeat, but the AAC doesn't have a team in NYC... Sorry UConn, but I can't watch half of your BB games here due to SNY blackout.

True, but at the state level, an annual UC, OSU, Xavier, Dayton tournament would be awesome.

Yes exactly, but I started by comparing Temple to UConn and UConn only has Yale and maybe one other in-state opponent worth scheduling.

As for Cincinnati if you really want to make a big deal include Kentucky and Louisville and with those 6 Universities it can become a National Event... Damn... I should be getting a percentage of Arescos salary for making these scheduling suggestions... 03-lmfao

RE: How can we be the BEST College Basketball Conference?
1. The AAC will never be the best bball conference.
2. It can be very good if: UC/UH/UCF keep on and Uconn, Temple, Memphis, WSU return to form and Tulsa and SMU can be solid.
3. ECU and Tulane need jettisoned.
