RE: 3 MAC teams still in top 100
Why is Kent so low? They have a Power conference road win and don't have a lot of losses?

I think the NET rankings are only through Friday's games. There is usually a day lag on those. Tomorrow will show them through Saturday's games.

I like these rankings.

We have to remember that there are 351 D-I teams so and team ranked above 176 is in the top half.

We have only one (or two) team(s) in the bottom half of these rankings.

They were updated today. I have corrected it now. Big jump for Bowling Green and Ball State.

RE: 3 MAC teams still in top 100
Going by NET and how at larges work, if UB won the MAC they should be on the 4 line. Toledo would be next 8 out, if the top 50some NET non conf winners got in as at larges... If Toledo knocked off 13 UB in the title game they would get in as a 12 or 13 seed. UB could slip to a 7 or 8 seed. We've seen this happen to SDSU and Nevada before. For the sake of argument lets say no upsets...UB wins the MAC.

The NIT has 48 teams? 2 MAC teams, Toledo and BSU would have a shot... It really depends on who wants to travel. Even an 87th ranked BSU isn't a lock for a tourney like this. They love 18-14 ACC and BIG10 teams.

The CIT and CBI would most likely invite 144 and better. That's Kent, Akron, CMU, NIU and BGSUcks.
That would be 8 of 12 getting post season invites. The Las Vegas 8 or whatever basically invites you if you want to play and are above .500. Ohio, EMU and Miami could get calls for something like that depending on how the other fields fill out.

I won't hold my breath for 11 of 12 teams getting invites. It's possible the CMU's of the league go 7-11 in league play and have an early exit in the MAC tourney. Any MAC team with 14 or more losses is doomed. At least in the past they have been. EMU has a great SOS though so they could defy history.

My actual prediction is that WMU, Miami, OU, Akron and NIU don't play in the post season because they will be a little below .500 in the league. These teams will end near or worse than .500 and will stay home... EVEN though their NET could be decent with league SOS.
NCAA- UB
NIT- Toledo
CBI- Ball State, Kent State
CIT- EMU, BGSU
LV8- CMU

There rankings factor in MOV and SOS. Kent, despite winning, has narrowly beat a lot of bad teams (83-79 W over #302 Cleveland St, 76-72 win over #198 Detroit, 70-68 win over #300 Albany are some that jump out to me). There is also the 34 point loss at home to #151 EMU. If they keep winning, they will move up.

RE: 3 MAC teams still in top 100
and kent has 2 power 5 road wins over NET top 100 teams oregon st and vanderbilt. both of their non conf losses are to top 50 NET teams.

MAC rankings and strength of schedule wins had a great weak. penn, toledo's top non conf win beat top 50 temple and moved way up. buffalo victims syracuse and west virginia took out duke and kansas. san francisco blew out byu and is still a top 50 team at 15-3. their loss to marquette holding up as the warriors are headed for a high seed. ball st wins at loyola and valpo looking a lot better now. MAC teams are getting better in the rankings at a time we usually drop.

Looking at those numbers it appears the MAC as a whole slid 9 total spots as a conference, but each of the top 3 improved and BGSU has now slid into the 4th spot.

I see it as a net -3, not -9, but same point stands.

Yes, I for whatever reason had Miami sliding 3 spots instead of improving 3. I shouldn't be trying to do math before my morning coffee 07-coffee3

Latest Bracketology has Buffalo as a 4-seed facing 13 seed Vermont. 04-jawdrop
With no upsets, they would face 5 seed Louisville in the second round and 1 seed Michigan St. in the third round. Of course, these are just approximate strength opponents.

Ball States NET will take a hit and Miami's will get a nice jump. NET loves road wins over good teams.

Toledo blows late lead, once at 17 in Ot to Kent. The dude threw in everything... typical Rockets breakdown.

Buffalo’s overall NCAA ranking will be punished by that NIU loss. Another MAC loss at Kent and I bet they don’t crack the Top 25 again.
