I think you misunderstand the differences between the "casual fan" in Kentucky and Texas. Your state has a long history of success in college basketball and the casual fan has quite a bit of interest in it. Football is king in Texas. The "casual fan" in DFW doesn't know anything about our record, or the record of any college basketball team.

North Texas is part of DFW but we are a long way away from Dallas and Ft Worth. Most of the suburbs are at least 45 minutes away, and at least 30 minutes more in heavy traffic. Even SMU and TCU, who have had more recent success, and are in the middle of Dallas and Ft Worth respectively, only average about 6k from the latest NCAA attendance report I saw (2017).

As far as what the OP said. If by "real" you mean being in the Top 4 scheduling pod, then I agree. I don't know many NT fans who think we are the conference favorite and we are probably at least one step away from being able to compete for the title.

lol we are having fun. My goal is still the same it was preseason. Have UTSA finish top 4 in CUSA, and have a good CUSA tournament. last year we we finished 5th, and lost to The Herd in Frisco, TX.

Some of you eastern fans are funny. North Texas drops one road game on a last second bucket, against what might be one of the better teams in C-USA, and you act like our season is over.

Some of our bad OOC was out of our control. Coach Mac talked about how we were invited to the Wolfpack Classic for a Round Robin that included NC State and then State had a conflict on the day we were supposed to play them. So we had to fill with Commerce. And according to UH fans, the Rainbow Classic had a Pac school back out and it had to be filled with stupid Humboldt State. Losing those two games makes a massive difference in our SOS. Some of our crappy D1 games were in the tourneys, like Eastern Shore, St. Peters, and Portland. UTA doesnt normally suck and we play them every year.

Your coach will never schedule up, because it doesn't matter if he wins the conference or ever goes even to the NIT, your fans are so delusional about 12 pr 13 wins out of conference against D2s and southwestern valley tech.

Ha! I think your crystal ball might be a little cloudy. We will play out our schedule and see where things stand once the post season gets here. I can see you are not a fan of the improvement at North Texas over the last 2 years, and that's fine. You might even be triggered by the subject of this thread. That's fine too. It doesn't matter.

If you want to really get an answer to the question of whether or not North Texas is for real, you should probably listen to this interview with our athletic director. He is very clear in his goal for our basketball and football programs. His 3 stated goals for North Texas athletics are very telling of where he intends to lead UNT. Enjoy.

North Texas did what you are supposed to do when trying to build a program. I don't knock them for it, but it def doesnt make them "for real."

BTW, UTSA got beat by MTSU tonight. So much for North Texas losing to one of the top teams in the conference.
