How long is it going to take before Bennett is able to convince the powers that be that we need a new and improved logo? When you look at all of the schools that we compete with and aim to model our program after, nearly all have redone their image/logo over the past few years. Do we stick with the boring, yet traditional red pony silhouette, or change it to reflect the times and maybe use the change to attract young athletes to our program(s). I say it's time for a change.

Call me a young and old fashioned, but I do like the running mustang logo. Heaven forbid we change our logo to mimick the likes of the Washington Wizards or Cleveland Cavaliers JUNK that they now market.
I think our university markets its logo to an audience other than that of a 'hip' crowd. Somehow, I just can't see Lamar Hunt wearing anything other than our traditional logo.
BTW, welcome!

Agreed
Right now we need tradition more than anything to pull us through

Don't get me wrong, I love the logo and I'm all for tradition. I'm just questioning whether our "tradition" is appealing to potential young athletes, many of whom were now born post DP. Hard to believe isn't it.
We're not UT and it may be time for a change. I'm not saying a radical change, but something matching the times (but tasteful). Given the choice, I think Lamar and the likes would choose a Ford Stadium packed with young excited fans vs. 5,000 loyal old timers sittiing around proudly wearing their pony cap with the red mustang telling stories about the good ole days.
Market the new stuff to the Dallas H.S' kids/parents during the camps or something as a tool. Maybe it catches on and generates a new buzz. Bennett changed the unis without losing our classic/traditional look. Maybe the same can be done with the pony.
