Where have you been???

Perhaps he missed the news due to the dumb thread title that mentioned Henderson was going pro. I didn't know for a few days after the announcement for the same reason. You would have expected a thread titled something like 'Henderson going Pro' but our posters like to create vague thread titles sometimes.

Do you guys get all your news from this message board?. It was all over the news, Commercial Appeal, Daily Memphian, ESPN, Social Media, Everywhere...

I get that argument, but I don't like players sitting out their team's bowl games. They can be injured anytime. He might actually HELP his draft status by playing.

NFL teams don’t look at a meaningless extra game in a bowl game to cement their opinion on a player already highly regarded. Henderson might get slight bump up if he shows out at the combines and individual teams workouts but teams have already evaluated him. Heck the interview process is probably more important to HC and GM offices

It's called a scholarship and fulfilling a committment

He graduated. His commitment should now be to his family. Getting injured to the point of not getting drafted is a real possibility.

Really? There is enough tape on him for evaluation without one more.

Hmmm. Ok. For such a "meaningless" game--"scrimmage"-- why all this message board chatter about it?

1,900+ yards, 8 yards a carry, Unanimous 1st team all American. The pros have known about Henderson for a while.

He was injured in the Mizzou game. Why in the world would he jeopardize a 7 figure payday in 6 months to play for a Jared Birmingham Bowl plastic trophy? It's called intelligence and taking care of your family.

My hope is that this becomes a major trend for the stars of these teams to do this as well as other players siting "health concerns" from taking more blows to the head. Viewership and attendance would hopefully plummet and around 30 of these idiotic games would go belly up. Nothing glorious like a 8-5 team playing a 6-6 team in a 3rd tier city played in a slum stadium.

Totally get his reasoning, and hope he is a huge NFL star. I just like to see players play. And coaches who leave before bowl games bothers me, too. I'm all for finishing what you start. And from a program perspective, it would be nice to win one of these games.

That's what you say when you lose. But the AAC is now ZERO - 3 in bowl games this year, and combined with a craptastic bowl season last year, is not doing our TV negotiations and P6 bragging position any favors.

Bottom line - 'tis the season to prove you are better than the G4. We have failed miserably.

Sorry but you're just all wrong.

Tulane won the very first bowl game played. So we've never been oh-fer in bowls this year.

Last year the AAC was 4-3 with a huge win in the only one that really mattered (Peach).

We are easily the #6 conference, bowl records aside. Sagarin and other services document this every year.

They were chopping. I never saw replays on the injuries, but did notice some chops when paying attention right after injuries. Also heard an announcer comment about chops - thinking one of the penalties was going to be for chops (it was not).

I used to take a hardline stance on this too. But I've come to realize, players like DH simply have too much to lose. If the team and coaches are okay with it - and they are - I have no problem. Norvell supports this 100%. And to top it off, he's already graduated.

Yeah, I realized that sometime yesterday. My main point still stands. You can put up Sagarin all you want (I do quite often when arguing this subject with fans of SEC teams), they don't care. The talking heads don't care. And you can bet the executives @ ESPN are gonna use every little thing at their disposal to belittle us in these upcoming negotiations.

I didn't see the injury plays but if they were chop blocking our dline then you know they would have done the same thing and to DH8. I'd like to see the film of these injuries. Very unfortunate and unusual to lose three defensive linemen in one half.
