Unfortunately it eventually cost Larry Finch his job because all of the talented class of 97 followed suit left town besides Moody.

Sad turn of events and it was widely known that there was a box of money to get him there. Hopefully his uncle feels terrible for selling out his nephew might be a hard thing to bury, Tony sounded really bothered by the whole deal. Must have been eating him up to finally make the truth known.

I thought this was pretty common knowledge

Dang, I thought I was somehow becoming an insider! I've known all this since then. They discussed it in detail on the radio off and on ever since then plus its been discussed here several times including during Tyler's recruitment. Its different when the box of money in a Chevy brings a player here though.

I think it's even worse now. Head coaches and assistant coaches make 4 or 5 times or more than what they made 20 years ago when Tony Harris was bought off by UT. Assistant coaches especially have huge incentive to cheat. They have to get players to justify their jobs. Where else are they going to get paid $300K?

Exactly re Larry Finch, but Tony is telling the truth. The day after he signed with Tennessee he was deriving a brand new Suzuki Samurai.

Everybody that knew Tony Harris was given Tennessee gear prior to his signing. East High School had more orange in its halls than downtown Knoxville.

Truly nothing sucks like a big orange.

His signing with Tennessee was the proverbial nail in Larry Finches coffin. Ironic that Tyler signed with Memphis.

I don't understand why Coach Finch just didn't pay his Uncle some money and been done with it. All schools do it and that ultimately caused him his job.
