RE: That was a very good bowl game. CONGRATS EM! It was a close one
No class in EMU football history had ever played in two bowl games during their 4/5 years playing at EMU. That changed this year. That is a HUGE milestone, despite going 5-7 last year (and anyone with eyes could make the case we were actually a better team in 2017 than 2016).
We had a 6-5 season in 1995, then returned to sucking. We had a 6-6 season in 2011, then returned to sucking. But now, those days are OVER. This year was another huge step forward. LJM just can't see that. I guess we'll have to win the national championship to satisfy everyone...

Anyone disappointed with an EMU program that goes 19-19 with two bowls over a 3 year stretch has obviously forgotten the 30 years of suckiness. That or they are just too young and didn't live through it.
Woodruff and his bigger, stronger faster model. Genyk and his high octane offense with little defense. English and his issues. The Philly Eagles uniforms, the Jets look. It goes on and on. Very little of it memorable for good reasons.
We've now got a solid program that's one step away from a championship level. Enjoy it.

It is much better to be .500 over three years than say .200. No doubt about it. My point is that hanging around .500 will lead to us sliding backwards because we're not progressing. At least not much.
It's cool that we've been to these bowl games, but there are so many bowl games now that they no longer are a reward for excellence.
I think next season is vital.

007 you guys sucked this year, you played us at the right time and if we made just one of two field goals, then... You let a floundering WMU team beat you and gave us white knuckles with respect to a bowl invitation. STILL you guys took home the MAC conference trophy because winning is a tradition and is expected in Dekalb. We just need to get to get to that level.

"Sucked" might be a little harsh but I agree with your general sentiment. EMU is really close and I think is going in the opposite direction that NIU is. Upward.

"Suck" is a relative term and has different definitions when discussing our two programs. You were not the typical NIU powerhouse, so you sucked, but you still won the MAC and eleven teams did not.
Your bowl record does indeed truly "suck" but winning the MAC championship can often provide you with more challenging matchups. Make no mistake about it, I would love to be 0-6 in bowl games since 2012, as 6 bowl appearances are representative of successful regular seasons. As a Detroit Lions fan I am truly envious of the Buffalo Bills four straight losses in the Super Bowl. It's a matter of perspective Sir.

0-6 doesn't describe how most our bowl games have gone.
I am pretty sure we are stuck with Childers at QB for 2 more years with no real chance for the other QBs. So our offense will continue to suck while our D will be much worse without Sutton Smith and Corcoran.
