No, honestly -- I pushed over an over-sized girl at the bar getting excited about the game highlights. After the NIU game, it sucked the air out of me for the MAC (even though EMU showed great stuff) -- but yeah, I knew they'd win. But to tell UAB to go to HELL -- awesome, Ohio. Awesome.

Ohio was not as impressive as they were in that 60 point rout of WMU. I was embarrassed for the MAC to have a score that looked like FBS vs FCS

I was back in Ohio for the holidays so I was there too. Happy to watch us fight back, but it was another frustrating bowl loss for us for sure. Made it worse that the loss came at the hands of Marshall. 03-puke

Hey, that was the Motor City Bowl for most of those years!

That's true! But the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl is a funnier name.

I was actually at the first iteration of the Pizza Bowl back in 2009 when the Bobcats took on the Herd.

i was there, too! ugh...i cried all the way home to Westerville after that one.

Yeah, loved that play call. Oulette totally sold the run on the play. 03-nutkick

Barring a late collapse, Ohio again representing the MAC well in a bowl. 04-cheers

RE: 2018 MAC Bowl Season
Things I learned this morning:
—The game was not played in San Francisco.
—There is actually a place called Frisco, Texas.

Things I still do not know:
—What DXL is.

Things I have no interest in learning:
—What DXL is.

I had the game on for a while in the first half, and it looked cold and misty and damp so I just assumed it was the Bay Area. I knew I’d never heard of a Toyota Stadium.

And who says sports aren’t educational!

I know you have no interest, but I had to look it up myself last night.

It's Destination XL.. a chain of clothes stores catering to larger men. They have about half a billion dollars in revenue per year and about 3000 employees. I thought they were a relatively small company to be sponsoring a bowl game.

Does anyone have any idea how much a company has to fork over to be a named sponsor of a bowl game of this caliber?

It makes the players’ gift bags a no-brainer: gift cards for XL and XXL and XXXL clothes.

It was 45, not 60. :) It's embarrassing for the MAC West, not the MAC itself so much.

I always thought it stood for "Debra XL" -- like a big girl, who was the human version of Jabba the Hut...

Quote:Ok, we need more MAC bowl wins. Can't be done at 1

I knew the MAC wouldn't be winless, and Ohio was the strongest/easiest pick for a win...

... but among Toledo vs FIU, WMU vs BYU, and Buffalo vs Troy -- we have a good shot for 1 more W.

Toledo vs FIU (8-4):
- MAC's next "easiest" win, but FIU is no joke
- They beat Div champs Middle Tenn; tied with Marshall for 2nd place in Div but lost to Marshall by 3
- Lost to Indiana by 10; Lost to Miami-FL by 14 (Toledo lost by much more)
- BUT: Middle Tenn is the only team at or above .500 they beat; Got stomped by 5-7 FAU at home; too many somewhat close games against losing teams
- Toledo seems to have gotten back on track better, later in season

Buffalo vs Troy (9-3):
- Very doable win, but very losable
- Beat @GA-Southern by 14; best win (only winning team they beat, but good solid win)
- Beat @Nebraska, albeit during Nebraska's vulnerable time in their 0-6 start; Akron would have beat them too IMO, if that game wasn't cancelled
- Beat other division's winner ULL (who ended up 7-7, post-conf-champ-game + bowl)
- Next best win was @ULM (6-6; left out of bowls)
- Got CRUSHED by Boise State, at home
- Lost to @Liberty, 22-16
- Lost to @App-State by 11, to have App-State win their division
- Overall a very solid team; capable of winning, capable of losing
- Would pick as "easiest" if Troy didn't beat GA-Southern

WMU vs BYU (6-6):
- Most unpredictable game; easiest to lose; WMU is unpredictable; BYU plays games close
- Beat @Wisconsin, which is solid win even in Wisconsin's sub-par year at 7-5
- Crushed 8-5 Hawaii at home
- Beat 5-7 @Arizona in a close game
- Lost to #17 @Utah by only 8pts in a Classic Mormon Battle
- Lost to 7-5 California at home, by only 3
- Lost to #25 @Boise by only 5
- Got Crushed by @Washington, P12 Champs
- Got Crushed by Utah State at home
- Lost to NIU in a nobody-can-score game, 7-6
- WMU beat @CMU by 25 (who could play teams close btw), beat NIU, and a tough EMU team, but got CRUSHED by Toledo & Ohio while losing to @BSU -- all in a row

From something i read previously, sounds like Buffalo's QB Tyree Jackson wants to transfer after this season is over. Talk about a real punch to the face.

FYI FIU was down to start the 4th, 31-0 and the back ups for Miami came in. All of their fans agree we played them tougher. We closed it to a TD in the 3rd and had a punchers chance down 35-21 to start the 4th and wee were driving.

Congrats to the Bobcats on a job well done. That's how you play bowl games.

I was thinking the same thing. Got to get a better result than last year at the very least.

I thought it was the shipping company DHL at first glance. My favorite sponsorships though are Badboy Mowers for the Gasparilla Bowl (sadly it was still the St. Pete Bowl when Miami played) and the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl, which is named for the slogan for the mostly industrial Chicago suburb of Elk Grove Village near O'Hare Airport.

Good call. I remember that now. They racked up the garbage pts like none other. I agree, Toledo's was a little better (but garbage pts at the end still matter if you run with them 'too much').

@Brett_McMurphy
In 2016, Miami, Ohio became 1st FBS team to start 0-6 & then win 6 straight to earn a bowl berth. This year, USF 1st team to start 7-0 & then lose final 6 games of year

What the hell. How did Toledo get to the red zone so quickly on that first drive? Missed it.

FIU fumbled on opening kickoff. Koback ran it in for a TD. Toledo ahead 10-0 after first quarter.
