Our guys will be ready to play!

I’m not really sure where these guys get off thinking they are so great. They may be good, but they are certainly not lightyears better than us. I’ll just leave these rankings here...

Georgia Southern offense avg YPG= 115th in the country

Georgia Southern defense avg YPG allowed= 44th in the country

Georgia Southern 5 year FBS, G5 History

5 years ago we switched from the Spread Option to the Pistol Option brought in by Head Coach Fritz. I myself prefer the Spread Triple Option that GSU ran over teams with in FCS. That said Fritz had great success the 2 years he was at Southern.

In GSUs first year in the FBS G5 Sun Belt, Southern went 9-3 in the conference and was leading GT and South Carolina in the last 2 to3 min of the game but lost. A very great start IMO. GSU was not bowl eligible in its first year of FBS.

In 2015 our second year in FBS GSU went 8-4 regular season * We took UGA or Georgia into double overtime but Georgia pulled it out the second overtime.

GSU faced 10-3 Bowling Green in the GoDaddy Bowl
Score GS 58, BG 27
First downs GS 26 - BG 15
Total Yards GS 534 - BG 326
Rushing Yards GS 452 - BG 116
Passing Yards GS 82 - 246
Time Possession GS 40:39 BG 19:21

When HC Fritz left after the end of 2015 season Southern went through 3 head coaches in 2 years and preformed poorly.

In 2018 our new Head Coach and staff are 9-3. The offense has been up and down this year but the defense has been steady. I feel good GSU's rebuilding year under a new HC, Staff & freshman QB.

How about you just talk about this year? All that's well and good, but we are 3 years removed from the GoDaddy Bowl. None of these people here care about that.

Yes, we're proud of where we came from and what we've done. Once again though, no one here is really going to care for you just coming on here and spouting off everything. If someone asks about our history, then yea, fill them in on who we are cause then they're actually interested in hearing more.

Hell, in terms of going to bowls, they've accomplished more lately than we have.

Also our QB is a sophomore, not freshman.

Someone asked "just who GSU thought they were" so I gave them some background on GSUs 5 years in the G5. Thanks for correcting me on our QB.

We had a great first 2 years winning a bowl game against a MAC team and stunk after HC Fritz left for 2 years. As I said this is truly a rebuilding year and at 9-3 I'm very happy with the turn around. I would love winning this bowl to cap off a good season yet GSU has to ask which offense will show up. (CONSISTANCY) is what I am looking for

Who's asking? Are you a cop?

But seriously, we're getting a little amped up (on both sides). I find the fun of being an EMU fan is that the stakes aren't quite as high as my friends that live and die by UM and MSU. Not that my weekend doesnt get a little damper on it when we lose. Let's all exhale and think about how the color and play by play guys are going to do with both schools being "The Eagles"

Interesting predictions on the GSU board that I just visited for the first time. Many are predicting a GSU win with their team scoring over 40 pts, more then any other EMU opponent this year. Hmmm...

Since their folks have invaded our board I'd like to hear from them how they think this will happen.

No Thanks. Hopefully their team is as overconfident as their fans.

It's not surprising that they're confident. Although we're happy to be in a bowl at 7-5, it's not an intimidating record. Add that to the MAC's very poor record in bowl games and it's no wonder they're confident. Maybe we can use that to our advantage.

2018 EMU 7-5 Stats
https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb...igan/2018.html

Army had 27 first downs to EM's 10
Army had 415 total yards to EM's 235

That was not a majority of fans on the Flight Line board
Most think it will not be a blowout!

Many fear that the GSU offense will start out sluggish in the 1st q.

Of course there are some but you have to know the GSU posters.

There's TWO people saying 40+ points.

Only a handful more have a score in the 30s.

Seen quite a few within one score.

Sooooo what you been reading?

Just as a side note, we used to have a bar in Statesboro called The Wooden Nickel. That's pretty funny. Also, I've only seen about 4 of us or so posting over here. This is nothing like an invasion. Most of the ones that have posted on here are pretty active on the Sun Belt CSN board.

Eagle58 - I'm thinking 27-21 Eagles, and I agree that if it starts raining we'll up that to 35 points for the good guys. Wet footballs are harder to catch in wet, cold fingers. Wish I could be there...will be on a 5th-in-a-row weekend conveyor retrofit in PA...y'all have a great time!

Garns- We get #10, 34-24. 4 TD's and Bass kicks two. Close first half, then as usual we roll in second half.

Your basing that on only 900 views and 13 respon.

Wait untill next week & you will probably be right.

You're not playing Army, and the GS offense is quite a bit different from what Army runs. The blocking schemes are quite different too. While Jeff Monken, the Army coach, was the coach at GS a few years ago, we have gotten away from the flexbone option that was so famous at GS for years. Many at GS wish we still ran that offense, but what we do now is quite a bit different - still effective, but from a different scheme.

Honestly guys, let’s stop comparing GSU to Army offensively.

Not only are they much different schematically, but Army is also a much better and more effiecient offense. We were not light years away from beating Army, although they did control the pace of the game.

Your right TO, the ARMY Spread T-Option is a lot different, in many ways, from GSUs Pistol Option attack yet they are both option, running attack first!
