ESPN appears to want the vs old coach storyline to promote the game (I think they own/broadcast about all of Memphis possible bowl choices).
I guess only question is which city to put it in.

For Economic reasons I guess I'd be OK with Birmingham, not perfect but the other options really aren't much better.

when your team is 6-6 you should go where you're sent...I'm hoping for either Memphis vs Vandy in Birmingham or Memphis vs Va Tech in the Indy Bowl

Actually Va Tech is already playing the 2nd string qb that transferred from Kansas. I believe we faced him a few yrs ago in a blow out victory.

I'm not crazy about Fuente meeting with his soon to be defensive coordinator during the football season while he was at Memphis.
The one thing I am thankful for, is that he didn't try to to recruit any Memphis kids to VT.

He points out that he recruited arguably the best running back in college football but I'd argue that he had nothing to do with his development. In fact, didn't he redshirt under Fuente? I'd say Norvell was more responsible for the player he is today although pat on the shoulder of Fuente for bringing him here.

actually he does not claim credit for recruiting Henderson , the author of the article stated correctly that Fuente recruited Henderson

I think Fuente can say anything he wants in regard to our football programs success. He and Norvell are the 2 guys that are responsible for turning it around and then keeping it from regressing. We should be eternally thankful to both.

Barry Odom would've been a better fit but we couldn't agree on the contract. At least our D wouldn't be giving up 50 points. Too bad it didn't work out.

Agree, Mimi. I am truly grateful to Fuente for what he did at Memphis but would still like to play him in a bowl. Va Tech is not that good this year, by their normal standards, and we would stand a decent chance of beating them. A victory over a traditional ACC football powerhouse would be a feather in our cap. Also remember that Fuente left Memphis - Memphis didn't leave Fuente.

Late to the discussion - playing catch-up.

I also heard Rudd and Bowen were not keen on playing Va Tech. We opted out of that potential game in the AAC selection discussion.
