I haven't listened yet but just based on your comments, it sounds like the "new way" of doing things at W&M is based more on Marion's influence than on London's. If so, and if the Tribe has any success at all, then it means Marion is not long for W'burg before a better offer comes along. We better enjoy this coming year because it may be our only one with him.

This is not a news flash. Marion is quoted many times about his aspirations to move up the coaching ranks. I, too, believe his time here will be short. The question I hope to answer is that we have an understudy in place that can hit the ground running should that happen (London Jr?).

London Jr or keep an eye on EJ Barthel

I like Barthel too. I just worry that he is a package deal if Marion moves on as a P5 OC or an FCS HC. I'm not so worried about London Jr. Sucks to lose a good young coach, but for that to happen, W&M is putting up numbers and winning a lot of games.

Sorry -- I didn't realize that the criterion for posting was that the content had to be hot news. Of course, if that was actually true then this whole board would consist of about two total threads and three total posts.
Also, just announcing aspirations doesn't mean that it would actually happen. All of us of a certain age can attest to life aspirations that never did -- and never will -- happen. My point was that it seems that all of the new-found dynamism in the program seems to be coming from him and not from Mike London. But London does get all the credit for recognizing it and hiring him!

It wasn't an attack at you, just that it is no secret since the day he came here that he's talked about head coaching at the highest level. Sure, his aspirations may not come true, but he definitely won't pull a Laycock if the opportunity arises.
The shotgun style recruiting and the social media marketing of the program I definitely attribute to the younger assistants- Marion included. I see London Sr as more of the CEO of the company. As you mentioned, credit needs to go to London for the hire. I think London's best attribute is his ability to evaluate and relate to people. Getting good people in house allows him to delegate more and ultimately get more accomplished. London has to be the politician and public face for William & Mary. The assistants get to focus primarily on football- Scheme and recruiting. I agree that a lot of the excitement, for me at least, is to see this offensive philosophy unleashed here. I hope it works. I also hope if it does work, we have sufficient time to have the framework in place to survive coaching advancement. That said, I think London is just as important in moving W&M forward and on to the next level.

I hope he takes a P5 OC job in 3 years. That means our offense was unstoppable.

I hope this regime is so good that we elevate our football program to heights that we have never seen.

Maybe someone else posted it elsewhere previously and I just missed it, but noticed former UVA and NFL LB Darryl Blackstock is listed as Defensive Quality Control Coach on his twitter account. Not listed yet on the Tribe football site.

Noticed Ray Pickering is listed as assistant offensive coach on his twitter profile. Like Blackstock, he is not listed officially on the Tribe website, so, I assume both of these guys are volunteers??

Interesting. I wonder if it is like an internship program. Seems like a lot of young coaches are intrigued by Marion's offense. They get the opportunity to learn and network while at the same time lightening the load on the full time staff.
