But the Chinese have always been out of the box when it comes to genetic research. I’m still trying to figure out where Yao Ming came from.

Hehe... I'm pretty sure you make babies just fine without CRISPR..

The law of large numbers. Very large, in Yao's case. With enough tries you will eventually get a result 5-6 standard deviations above the mean.

(I'm actually halfway torn at this stage with being concerned about having grandbabies soon and being concerned that I'll never have grandbabies)

Yao's father is 6' 7⅛" (2.01 meters) and his mother is 6' 3¼" (1.91 meters). It's not as if they weren't expecting to have a tall child.
