DALLAS (SMU) - SMU senior defensive tackle Allan Adami has been named to the 2004 Outland Trophy and Bronco Nagurski Trophy Watch Lists, the Football Writers Association of America announced this week.

Adami, a 6-4, 278-pound senior from Corpus Christi, Texas, has been an anchor on SMU's line as a starter for two seasons and ranked fourth on the Mustang squad in 2003 with 75 stops.

The Outland Trophy annually is presented to the top interior lineman in college football on either side of the ball - tackles, centers, guards - in a vote of the FWAA All-America Team Committee in late November. Presented since 1946, the Outland Trophy is the third oldest award in college football behind the Heisman Trophy and Maxwell Award. It is named after the late John Outland, an All-America lineman at the University of Pennsylvania at the turn of the century.

The 2004 Outland Trophy winner will be announced on Dec. 9 on the ESPN College Football Awards Show from Orlando, Fla., and will be presented by the Omaha Sports Committee on Jan. 13 at a banquet in Omaha, Neb.

The winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, given the best defensive player in college football regardless of position, is presented by the FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club. The winner will be named on Dec. 6 at a banquet in Charlotte, N.C. The FWAA will select a defensive player of the week during the 2004 season. Top defensive performances around the country will be submitted by schools and conferences and an FWAA committee will select the winner from those nominees.
