Wofford just kicks their butts: 81-61 final.

That's 2 bad home losses to the Gamecocks who already lost to #179 Stony Brook in the 2nd game of the season.

Wofford not only outshot SC 44.8% with 13 to 28% with 7 makes from 3; but they also outrebounded them 43 to 37. A total whupping.

And on a night when Fletcher Magee shot 2-11 from 3 for 8 total points. But Nate Hoover kind of picked up the slack with 30 points on 9-12 from 3. As Cam Jackson and Keve Aluma added 10 points apiece inside and combined with Chevez Goodwin for 21 rebounds. And freshman Larson started ahead of Storm Murphy at point, getting 8 assists and 9 points to Murphy's 0 assists and 0 points??? http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=233221

Can the stats feed be right?

Since USC fell to #179 Stony Brook the win was not TOO surprising. [EDIT] but Kenpom had the Gamecocks as 8 point FAVORITES at home, and rated SC 55th going into this one. The domination and the distribution of points for the Terriers is pretty remarkable.

Since USC fell to #179 Stony Brook and were 8 point UNDERDOGS against Wofford on KenPom, you can't say that the win was surprising. But the domination and the distribution of points for the Terriers is pretty remarkable.
Storm Murphy did not travel to Columbia at all. He is very sick from what I heard. He should be back Saturday but who knows?

At least 2 sources have the same stats - with leading scorer Magee having a terrible night, Murphy doing worse, Hoover hitting 30 and freshman Larson leading them at point. Nothing from Storm Murphy. And domination on the boards for Wofford. Wofford has turned around their rebounding, with a +5 margin going into this one. But against SC?????? And no Trevor Stumpe. Quite a night for Wofford.

So they beat SC without 2 of their mainstays, Stumpe and Murphy, their leading scorer going 3-15 from the field and a freshman at point guard? Wow.

Wow indeed. But in no way is this an upset. If I had been online earlier, I was gonna suggest that this could happen tonight.
Hoover has sort of been on the edge of breaking out a time or two before. 20 wouldn't have shocked me. 30 definitely does.

There are wars on the horizon.

Wake's gonna pull that one out.

Citadel hit 23/40 from deep to destroy High Point, 112-87. Good golly - that's putting up a 3-pointer every minute.

At home in Birmingham, Samford continues to look strong, taking undefeated Belmont to overtime before losing 93-99. Bulldogs are 7-2 on the season.

VMI dropped a home game to 4-1 American. They were within 4 (64-68) at 1:35, but couldn't score again as American made their foul shots to win 64-74.
