The trade finally went through last week after lots os speculation. Will the McGrady - Yao connection take the Rockets to an NBA championship? I think it is a good chance as long as they play team ball. I know with Frances and Mobley it seemed that they did not want to share the ball with Yao. Now their butts are gone!!!

I have fell out of love with the NBA lately, but maybe this trade will peak my interest.

My problem is not with the Rockets per se, but I think the problems they were having are symptomatic of the problems in the NBA. The NBA is working too hard to create another Jordan and it is hurting the game. Now so called superstars get away with murder on the court and it is no longer a team game. I think Francis and Mobley were trying to be superstars and not team players and it hurt the Rockets. Hopefully McGrady and Yao can play together with a good supporting cast and not like a couple of individuals (like the Lakers last year).

Amen to that!

If you'll indulge me in a little hockey talk, in hockey rules are rules no matter who's doing it. (Of course, the refs tend to swallow their whistles if it's late in a tight or important game; but that's a matter of time passing, and it passes the same for everyone.) Not so with NBA.

I think the problem is only made worse by TV coverage that plays up the superstars -- in all sports. Out here in Atlanta, there was an Astros game on TV awhile back (it happens occasionally -- we got that wretched Cubs series -- but this was a different time.) So at first, I thought "cool, the 'Stros are on". Then I realized they were only showing the game because it was against Barry Bonds.

Sorry to digress. Anyway, give me a good TEAM effort over a lone superstar any day.
