Coppin is rated near dead last on Sagarin, #350, and is now 0-7. It's a win for JMU, though needing OT and being home signals a deeper problem.

Hofstra, Drexel and Northeastern all picked up wins today. Elon lost to Boston College by 7.

The CAA appears right now to look weaker overall than last year. Suffered some abominable losses with few "highlight" victories.

Not only that, but if the regular season champion wins the CAA Tournament and doesn't get an NIT automatic bid, the CAA could have nobody in the NIT for the second consecutive season. The CAA hasn't missed the NIT in consecutive seasons since the three seasons 1994-1995 through 1996-1997.

GMU beat JMU, 66-53, at Mason. Couple of technicals in second half with players jawing. Lou Rowe did not want to shake Dave Paulsen's hand at the end of the game and was giving GMU's assistants an earful. None of which appeared called for. Not a good look for Rowe.

Elon lost a tough one at home, 75-74, to a very good UNCG team.

Year in and year out I've always found Mason to be a super chippy team. And it doesn't matter if it's Larranaga, Hewitt, or Paulsen.
