RE: App State at Texas State
Evans and Williams are doing an excellent job right now. Hicks is sidelined with a bad knee and it's questionable if he comes back this year. Harrington appears ready to go should it become necessary. If he plays these last few games he still gets his redshirt year. Why use People's other than to get some experience and tip off everyone as to how good he is?

I'm not sure how any of this is calculated, nor am I sure how to interpret or validate any of the data. But, according to this Appalachian State is ranked 90 in the nation in special teams efficiency. What is startling is the fact Texas State is 130.... so you bringing up the question begs "what the hell happened tonight?" if this game sticks out to you as a special teams failure.

TXST hasn't made a field goal since early Sept and they said APp hasn't made one over 40 yards. TXST has awful kicking but Apps wasn't great either.

I watched maybe 15 mins but TXST was bad so I turned it off. My takeaway was that TXST can start a drive, cross the 50 and then fall apart. App St was good and disciplined but not as great as I expected. They wore down the defense after a while and converted a few 3rd and 4th and longs that killed the Bobcats.

I would say our kickoff coverage is that bad. The rest of the special teams are good though. We have been a little better in recent years, but for the 15 years I have been watching App football i would call our kickoff coverage pretty bad. I hold my breath anytime it is not a touchback. I have talked about it before, and don't know what the reason is. We have had different players, coaches, schemes, etc. and it remains reliably bad.

It's honestly kind of fascinating until it costs(helps cost) us a game (Penn State for example).

We have only tried one kick beyond 40 yards, and that was the 56 yarder at Penn State. We've only attempted 7 FG's all year, but its not due to having a bad kicker. Satterfield likes to go for it a lot on 4th downs. Typically we don't kick so short on kickoffs (36 TB), but couldn't do it Saturday for some reason.
