Penny looks comfortable in his press conferences. I did not recognize the voices of some of the reporters. I surmise there is more interest in the program now than in the recent past.

Yes, Penny does look comfortable. And, what he says is interesting, not some canned "coach speak."

What you get from Penny in these pressers is something we haven’t seen in many years. He actually talks basketball. It’s fun and very refreshing. He answers questions directly with no bs. I hated listening to Tubby and Josh. All they did was coach speak through the whole damn thing. You got a little bit of basketball talk from Cal, but at least he was entertaining. Penny seems like a natural. But it shouldn’t be surprising, he always did well being interviewed as a Tiger and in the nba.

Exactly. I got to where I did not even listen to ANYTHING that Tubby or Josh had to say, before or after a game.
Penny has got me hooked. He tells it like it is.
We are so lucky to have him at the helm.

Great observation. While listening to Cal, you felt motivated enough to put a uniform on and go play. Cal would hit you with the psychological aspect of it too from books he was reading...i.e one more degree. You never got that from Josh or Tubby. It almost was like a college professor who didn't want to bother to explain something to you because he felt you wouldn't understand. When listening to Penny, you feel more connected to the team and the players and their struggles. He also leaves you confident enough to put on a whistle and go coach a kid to get better at basketball. I also get that same impression from the other coaches too. I have to admit Mike Miller and Sam Mitchell are better at coach speak than Penny but they do at least talk basketball. These guys know basketball.
