To raise his stock, Landon needs to lose weight & work on his power game. The best way he can do that is to come back for his Sr season.

He does need to lose a little weight but his power is fine and here's why.

This year he was batting mostly cleanup and saw very few pitches to drive because he was our biggest HR threat. What's amazing to me is the fact that he is only 4-5 doubles away from tying the USC single season record. Considering he see's a steady diet of breaking balls and fastballs WAAAAYYY off the plate, that makes his number of double's even more amazing. That's why Buschers HR numbers are higher this year than they were last year. He's seeing the pitches that Powells not.

Last year he was batting in the 8th spot and was surrounded by Peters, Gonce, Dyson and others. With those guys around him he was protected and saw ALOT more pitches to drive.

If someone steps up next year with a big bat, you will see Powells power numbers increase. If next years team is a station to station team like this years team, his power numbers may not increase much, if at all. The scouts know that. He was black balled in the draft this year.

Man! What a lineup. It says alot when a guy like Powell's inserted in the #8 spot.

I still say he needs to drop some baggage, increase his overall upper body strength & improve his power game, but you make an excellent point as usual. 04-bow
