WBB - Game 1 VCU
Agree, Billymac.
Tribe women open at home against VCU next Tuesday.
VCU, picked to finish 6th in the A10, return all starters from a very young team that closed strong, but finished 7-22 last year. Interesting newcomer for VCU in 6-0 freshman forward Ksenlya Malashka, who was MVP of the U18 European FIBA Championships.
Tribe picked to finish 6th in the CAA. Tribe will be looking to replace Abby Rendle, but return 1st Team All CAA guard Bianca Boggs, as well as, All Rookie guard Nyla Pollard. It will be the debut of transfer and local phenom, 5-10 guard Harper Birdsong. Tribe, also, welcome highly rated, 6-3 freshman center Caroline Stover.
VCU won the last matchup in 2015-16 at VCU, 73-47. Revenge time.
Go Tribe!

VCU - Women
The women's team always seems to tear in up in the OOC. Big opportunity here with VCU actually playing us at home.

RE: VCU - Women
Excited to see what the women do this year. It seems like we've been getting better each year, and Swanson is bringing in great players. I think we'll do better than 6th in the CAA, but whenever you graduate a key player the preseason voters like to drop you a few spots. Looking for a strong win at home to open things up.

Let's change the name of this thread to something like "WBB - Game 1 VCU".

Vcu is also young, but looks much stronger...and taller inside. Down 7 at the half.

Boggs picked up where she left off. Great first half for her.
Free throws is the difference in the game - we are at 50% and VCU is at 85% and has taken a lot more of them. But, our 3s are falling so more of that, please.

Like the assistant coach said in the post game interview -- it is just one game. Harper Birdsong looked to have first game jitters. Okay, now that that is out of the way ...... Time to right the ship against Howard next Monday.

Sucks to lose the first one, especially to VCU. Look for the women to rebound and get the winning train rolling.

RE: WBB - Game 1 VCU
The good news is that Hodgson is a solid point guard and looks ready to play at this level. I was very worried about replacing Green. This team isn't physical enough around the basket. VCU was not much taller and ate us up on the boards.
