Gerrid Doaks?
Any word on him condition? Could he be able to play the last four games under the new rules?

RE: Gerrid Doaks?
I think Doaks redshirted 2016. So new rules probably not a factor in anything.

TY

Then perhaps if he does not play he could seek a 6th yr medical RS?

Only if his first year was medical related also.

RE: Gerrid Doaks?
He had surgery about 3 or 4 weeks ago so my guess would be he'd be lucky to see any action at all this year save for a bowl game.

According to Justin Williams of the Athletic:

"– Injury updates: Back on the gridiron, things are moving at Wolverine-recovery speed for a couple notable Bearcats. Sixth-year senior captain and starting center Garrett Campbell is back to practicing in a limited capacity, and sophomore running back Gerrid Doaks was out on the field as well doing some conditioning. As crazy as the suggestion seemed a few weeks ago, it looks as if both will have a chance to suit up before the season is over. Especially Campbell, whose career is done after this year. I wouldn’t even be shocked if he got snaps as soon as the South Florida game. Also, freshman tight end Josh Whyle has been full-go, and will likely see the field soon enough."

That's kind of insane about Campbell...didn't he break his ankle?

RE: Gerrid Doaks?
How does Whyle's situation work relative to this new redshirt set of rules given he hasn't played? Can he play in a few games before yearend and still qualify?

Yes he can play in 4 (including the bowl) and still redshirt.

Fickell talked about his philosophy on the new RS rule out at Higher Ground this summer. Basically said that for many freshman they would be better by the last 4 games of the year than the first 4 games. And he referenced Whyle as a guy coming off an injury that they'd look to play late in the season. Now that a bowl is on the table it'll be curious to see who they play this week vs. waiting one more week.

Same with Doaks. As long as we stay healthy, we really don't "need" Doaks and Whyle back for this season but I think it would be great for their rehab and development to get in some quality playing time this year.

But Campbell returning soon would be remarkable and a great thing for both him and for the team on the field down the homestretch.

Wasn't Doaks' RS voluntary? If so, how many games he plays this year would be irrelevant because he couldn't apply for a medical RS.

If there is medical documentation that he dealt with injuries during that redshirt year, he will have a case to apply for a 6th year if so desired...

RE: Gerrid Doaks?
Is Kevin Mouhan basically out all year and they are going to try and bring him back next year? He hasn't played all year, and i saw him talking to Marcus Freeman on the sidelines in street clothes during the game yesterday. I don't believe he has played all year.

Been wondering about this also. He played a decent amount for us in his early years and looked to have some good potential.

Mouhon tore his ACL in the spring and is still rehabbing the injury...

Is Mouhon a guy who is a candidate for a 6th year? Considering most our D-Line are seniors it seems that if Kevin could come back it would be a nice help next season.

Effectively the Ben Mauk situation all over again.

RE: Gerrid Doaks?
^^ Yes, didn't work for Ben because there was scant documentation; Garrett Campbell is a recent example of a situation where it worked.
