I appreciate all that Dooley has brought to UGA, in football & athletics in general. But I think it probably is time for some new blood, as Adams says. I've often wondered if some of the football coaches who followed Dooley weren't destined to run up against walls trying to run their program on their own given Dooley's legacy & his still being around on a daily basis.

Should be interesting to see who ends up on the candidate list. Don't even think about trying to steal Ron Wellman from Wake... 05-nono

Michael Adams is an idiot. He's probably going to make his darn son the AD.

Thank god Dooley is leaving. I come from out of UGA so I have no idea about his presense in the 80's. But I disagree with a hell of a lot of issues. 1 down, 1 to go (Adams).

Vince Dooley is an institution. He's done more for UGA than Adams will ever do.

He built Georgia's football program. And did a fine job as our Athletics Director. He deserves respect.

As a Tech fan, it doesn't really bother me either way, but Vince has been associated with UGA for over 40 years. He deserves to go out on his terms. It's basically the same as if Penn State were to hire a new president and then he decided to run Joe Paterno outta town.

All Adams wants is a puppet to sit up there and hold the title of AD while he controls the entire operation.

Adams is outta there. Dooley is to UGa what the Bear was to Alabama. The UGa Board of Trustees will have fun cutting Adams loose. :saber:

Unfortunately the UGA Board of Trustees doesn't have much say. The University System Board of Regents governs the hiring & firing of the presidents of all of the schools in the Georgia University system. And they were very vocal at the conclusion of Harrickgate at stating that they were behind Adams 100%.

I doubt that they will continue not to say much. The next few days will be interesting..

Let me say this:

I don't get this new blood garbage. What does his age have to do with him being a good AD?

It has to do with the fact that his current contract expires in June. There was never an guarantee of an extension. In business, sometimes contracts are not renewed. And collegiate athletics is definitely a business.

But I think JJ made a great point when he said Vince should go out on his terms. What has he done wrong?

Ok, I've been meaning to ask this for awhile now:

Just what is the bloody purpose of the University System Board of Regents?? In Alabama, no such system exists, and power rests within the hands of the Board of Trustees for each respective university system. Why does Georgia have the USBR to begin with and is there any way possible it could be done away with???
