Dear Friends,
The Side Track Restaurant and Bar gave ten cent shells when I was in school in the early sixties. Directly across the railroad tracks (go to your left) is the Hudson Museum. Great place to see some historical Hudson automobiles.

Oh my god Ken the Sidetrack in the early 70's when I went to school, was your absolute redneck dive bar and did not like students. Credit the French's for buying the Alibi across the street and turning it into Aubree's and Stick's upstairs. After that they bought the Sidetrack and actually turned it into a very good restaurant. Frenchies came soon thereafter. They were in essence, the Dan Gilberts of Depot Town. Based on the fact that Aubrees now has 9 locations, not only have they enriched Ypsilanti, but now only Linda (Aubree "Bill" French has passed) as well. Hats off to the French's.

The long time empty building across Cross street from Hudson's/Auto Museum is being renovated and turned into loft apartments/condos, FYI.

Depot Town is loaded with cool places to eat and hang out. Great area to eat at one place and hang out at others. Really like Cultivate.

Other great places in Ypsi too - Haabs, Tower, Wurst, etc.

Ypsi has become a destination place for dining. Talk to other folks and you'll find that they visit from all over the area.

Depot town is great. Can't wait for the Thompson block to finally be done.

Yep my wife and I enjoyed Towers and Wurst. I remember when Ned's was in that neighbor as well as Hungry Charlie's where you got a brew, burger and fries for under $5. Of course lets not forget the only Jack in the Box west of the Miss River was in Ypsi although we didn't refer to it as Jack in the Box.

I think the Thompson Block was bought by the owners of Mash and blue tractor bbq in Ann Arbor. I am excited to see what will go in there. The only thing I think the area of depot town is missing would be an old fashion butcher shop.

Not Cross St but on East Michigan my wife and I have to try the Bomber for breakfast sometime. I've read alot of positive comments in the posts on this board over the years.

The Bomber is great. Traditional diner-style breakfast, but they just do everything so well. Never had a bad meal/dish there. Also, of course, you can do the 'Bomber' size for several dishes if you're feeling very hungry.

They close very early, if I remember correctly. 3:00pm, so really only a breakfast/lunch joint.

The breakfast burrito with chorizo is my usual order.
