UA should do a newer version of the Adidas Championship throwbacks if they really wanted to rub it in.

Went last night.
Thought the same thing about too few bathrooms upstairs.
Had the issue with seeing over the person in front of me but I'm short.
Where the heck are the garbage cans? We had to hunt on down o throw our garbage out.
Buffalo Wild Wings was a hot mess...food was good when we finally got it but we had to wait 15 minutes AFTER we ordered for an order of wings and fries. And the girl who took the order was a dingaling. We had to repeat it three times...

thought the Championship banners were probably slated for unveiling at the OSU game...perfect timing

Or maybe not. First of all, our last national championship was fifty-six years ago (I was a UC student then). Other than our appearance (and loss) in the '63 championship game (first date that night with my wife of over 53 years) and one final four under Huggs, what have we done since? And second, I could see an unveiling like that giving OSU an added incentive to really rub our noses in it -- something akin to the terrible drubbing we took at Louisville after our FB players dissed the Cardinal's mid-field logo pre-game. Not smart. I'll never forget the expression on Dantonio's face as that debacle unfolded -- not only like a helpless deer in the headlights, but also like a deer that had been run over repeatedly by a speeding Mack truck.

Raising our banners — National Championships. FF, EE, number of SS, Many NCAA tourney appearances at the first home game makes sense so fans can be a part of the banner raising. Raising the Banners honors our history.

If the team you're playing just happens to be the team you beat to win a National Championships so what? Do you wait to raise the banners at the second game because you are scared of hurting the other team's feelings?

Bearcats bend to no one.

Speaking of motivation...
tOSU under Beaknose took a game against UC in 2006 early in the Cronin rebuilding years after ducking UC for decades. tOSU took it because UC was way down and tOSU had one of their best teams in years with Greg Oden and Co. UC played with Connor Barwin, Ron Allen, Tim Crowell, Marvin Gentry...they fought hard but were totally outmatched. tOSU pummeled UC 72-50.

If Mick can't motivate this year's team to get up for the game against tOSU to win the arena home opener, defend their home court, start he season on a W and get some revenge for the 2006 team Mick should be fired on the spot.

Beat tOSU.

Dantonio always had that look on his face. I think the guy is chronically constipated.

It's a bad idea to bring up the National championship because it might make OSU angry?

The history between the two teams is an unavoidable topic.
Why two teams 90 miles apart don't regularly play is an unavoidable topic.
The media will press both story angles hard.
The TV announcers will do the same.

Yet evidently UC should avoid the topic because we don't want to anger the Buckeyes.

Hell, they have been angry since '61.

I got the chance to walk through the Shoe today... wow. It feels like a brand new, world class arena... but at the same time, it feels like home.

My Mom (OSU) and Dad (UC) almost divorced (well, not really) over the '61 game!

I'm guessing they didn't have the ribbon boards going, because when they do, it feels like being in a, I don't know, a really cheap, cheesy, penny arcade?

Nope, they didn't have any screens on when I was there. The only time I will see them this year will probably be during WBB games.

Strolled through before the game yesterday. It's now BY FAR the best sports venue in Cincinnati.

But I had the same thought as a lot of others have had...

Man, that scoreboard looks like it hangs down mighty low. Maybe it's an optical illusion.

About the only positive from last night is I felt the new Arena was incredible. From 219 row 5 I felt like I was right on top of the game action. Absolutely loved my seats. Comfortable, wide, room to walk in front if you need to leave the row.

The concourse in the corner up top is a little tight and I imagine in games like last night where it is completely full concessions and bathroom will take some time (though I timed my bathroom for 5 minutes left in the first half and didn't have to wait long), but the place looks absolutely first class all around. Loved it.

Thanks for the first person report. I couldn't be there last night but it was truly impressive on ESPN2. It looked as good as any high major venue in the country and the best part is it's on our campus. I believe it will be a major recruiting asset, and not just for basketball.

The arena is still awesome. The restroom situation is a little disappointing as there's not nearly enough (men's, at least).

I don't have a problem because I can time it to the TV timeouts, but for the majority of fans that don't dart out of their seat as soon as the whistle blows, I heard lots and lots of complaints.
