From Coach Forbes
I had an opportunity to hear Coach Forbes speak at lunch today. Below are some of the highlights:

1. We play at Austin Peay in a closed scrimmage on Saturday. Maybe this has been discussed but I missed it. Hopefully we’ll see some glowing reports.
2. Speaking of glowing reports, he said this is his most talented team that he’s had here by far. He kept reiterating that he means no offense to last years team, but this one is exponentially better. Says that last year they had problems scoring the basketball especially from deep (as we all know) but that this year will not have those problems. He did say last year’s team really defended and that the defense was a lot better this time a year ago.
3. He compared Boyd to a left handed version of TJ Cromer.
4. Bo is at 80%. He said his injury occurred on the very last day of summer practice.
5. Patrick Good was feared to be lost for the season. Coach said his stomach was turned upside down over the thought of Pat having to sit out two years but they got a second opinion and, thankfully, it cleared him to play. It does sound like something Patrick will have to manage all season.
6. He gave Pun a great compliment. He compared his character to Chris Lofton. He was glowing about his leadership and said a couple of times that we were really fortunate to land him.
7. Season ticket sales have eclipsed 2500 for the year— ahead of last year’s record setting 2200.
8. He poked a jab at UNCA’s coach for not being willing to play at Freedom Hall.

I’ll update this if my memory allows

RE: From Coach Forbes
Hate to hear about Bo and Patrick. Hope that coaches can deal with the injuries and get them healthy. Bo especially would be a huge loss. Forbes has been raving about him in every interview I've seen, and he looked like a different player than last year in the open practice. Patrick looked tired in the open practice scrimmage, although Forbes was working him hard, leaving him on the floor most of the way. Again, with a deep team, it would seem wise not to rush things.

As far as the depth, the comment that this is his most talented team by far squares with what we saw at the open practice. Some of us have gotten pretty excited about prospects, especially considering that there are so many new players. But it sounds like the coaching staff has, too.

Thanks for passing this info along, 06.

Nice report 06. Many thanks for the summary. What was Patrick's injury? I'm sure I've read it but I'm old and have forgotten.

RE: From Coach Forbes
thank you. It would be rare to not have any injuries at any point of the season .So I am okay with hopefully minor issues so far.Good recruitment should have given us depth .Can`t wait
