RE: First Man on a trajectory to...
Saw this tonight. I'm very pro American and I don't think it was a disrespecting to the USA. As mentioned above there were plenty of scenes showing the flag and USA. Not sure why they responded as they did when asked about the planting of the flag. It would have been a nice touch, but from my view point, it wasn't the point of the film.

That said I did not like this film. It was very dark and dealt with the emotions and or better said lack of them from Neil Armstrong. Mostly his pain dealing with his young daughter's death.

It was no where near as good as Apollo 13 and in my opinion it didn't really hit home on the technical achievement that this was for man. Further more they didn't celebrate the accomplishment either. In the film, when they actually landed on the moon there were no scenes of the jubilation that I'm sure was occurring in Houston and around the world. I would recommend waiting for this to come out on the small screen.

I won't see it because I'm still mad that the moon landing sucked all the air out of the story of Sir Ted the Swimmer standing on a young woman's face to escape from the car he drove off the bridge and in which he left her to suffocate allthewhile trying to figure out how to save his sorry, worthless, ass.

I actually saw Chappaquiddick on Netflix today and thought it was a pretty good flick (and was pretty fair in its telling of the story too). I thought the most interesting part of the story was the Kennedy cousin (Ed Helms played him in the movie) who basically disowned the Kennedy family after the incident. The Australian who plays Ted Kennedy wasn't bad either - looks nothing like him I thought at the beginning but by the end of the movie, he had really morphed into the character physically.

I'll probably wait until First Man comes out on Netflix too.

Very few do anymore. I think I've been to a movie at a theater twice in the last 3 years. One was Avitar and I can't even remember the other.

It didn't take long to hit netflix, usually a sign it was a box office flop. The modern day equivalent of straight to video.

I'll probably watch it when it gets to the two dollar movie house. As a matter of fact I just got home from there. The way my wife loves to go to the movies that place was a Godsend. I think we've gone 4 times this week.
