I received this in an email from the Alumni Organization. This would be great if they restored this fund.

The Legislative Budget Board (LBB) has posted a hearing for Monday, August 23, to initiate restoration of the higher education excellence funds vetoed last year.  Last Friday, Governor Rick Perry issued a press release endorsing the restoration of the funds.  The funds may be restored under a process known as "Budget Execution," which requires action by the LBB and the Governor.  The August 23 hearing is the first step in the process. 

How You Can Help:

Please take a minute to write a note to or call LBB members and the Governor to thank them for their efforts to restore the funds.  Three of the members of the LBB are from Houston: Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, Senator John Whitmire (a UH alumnus) and Representative Talmadge Heflin.
