Women's 1st day of Practice 2018
Coach Ezell is celebrating a first day of practice where she actually has 15 eligible, healthy players, unlike the 10 she had last year.

Among the interesting comments:

"There’s nobody like Lexus Spears currently in our league." That's the powerful 6-2 graduate transfer from Morgan State who was 2nd team All-MEAC with 13.8 ppg, 7.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals. She'll be quite an addition to an already strong front court led by seniors Brittany Snowden, Raven Dean and Sadasia Tipps. 6-2 Junior Anajae Stephney also got praise for her best 1st day yet.

Speaking of Snowden: “Britney Snowden is the best leader I’ve ever coached. Period. I’ve been doing this since I was 23 years old. "

How about the need for back court help for Freshman of the Year and Defensive POY Erica Haynes-Overton? "I think Kaia Upton has a really good chance to play early." 5-6 Freshman Upton is the former East Nashville Magnet all-stater and teammate of Haynes-Overton who averaged 17.5 ppg, 3.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 4.0 steals her senior year.

Also praise for freshman wings: "I think Amaya Adams and E’Lease Stafford are going to give us some much needed depth on the wing."

There are big questions at guard and about 3 point shooting, but a strong front court and lots of optimism for the Bucs. With big losses for Mercer and Chattanooga, there is opportunity in the SoCon.
