RE: Typical Tic Arrogance
Anyone checked in on our Tic friends and whether they're still breathing on their own this eve?
Saw a lot of them dressed up as silver and ugly blue seats this afternoon, but not many since. Seems they changed out of the red sweater vests.
Are their playoff hopes and aspirations still intact?

If their hopes and aspirations included more Zima and afternoon "teas" and naps, then yes, they have things right where they want them. Many of them will have newly found time to stock up on Depends.

That board is in total meltdown mode. I'm probably getting more entertainment out of reading it than I should, but I can't seem to make myself look away from the train wreck haha.

RE: Typical Tic Arrogance
I'm always ready to argue over concepts like entitlement and privilege, but then I go to an RU game and realize it does exist. That 55 and older UR fan is just the worst kind of person, read some of the "insults" thrown at JMU fans yesterday from that group. "Your degree is worthless", "glad Sheetz or WaWa let you off today to come to the game", and on and on. The pinnacle of irony has to be starting a thread about "JMU employee day" at Robins Stadium, then complaining about someone else's lack of class. They just bring out the worst in me, hanging 70 on them would have been great but taking a knee in the red zone at the end is actually a bigger slap in the face.
The even bigger irony is the that older generation thumping their chests about how elite RU is actually didn't go there when academics were a priority. I'm not talking about the law school, which in my lifetime has always had a good reputation. I'm talking about the undergrad who basically was sent there in lieu of reform school because mommy and daddy could afford it. I grew up 30 minutes away, and when I say I don't know anyone that didn't get in there out of high school I literally mean anyone. Even if they didn't get in anywhere else. This focus on undergrad academics has been a more recent, within the last 20 years phenomenon.

RE: Typical Tic Arrogance
You brought up a question I thought about yesterday.
What is more embarrassing?
1- A team continuing to score on you in the 4th quarter after being up 56-10
2- A team driving the field in the 4th quarter and then taking a knee in the red zone?
I say it is #2
Completely Humiliating for the opponent
Houston left the starters in until 9 minutes left in the game. Kirkpatrick was also calling pass plays in the 4th quarter.
I wonder how opposing coaches are taking it?
My wife asked me during the game if college has a mercy rule. That’s how over this game was in the 2nd half.

The TD pass by Gage (at the time listed as JMU's 3rd string QB playing with other 2nd and 3rd string guys) was a run-pass option. You coach players to win, not to be nice and refrain from hurting the opponent's feelings. Taking a knee was a humiliation. It would have been better had JMU gone ahead and tried to score. Give Ru another chance to stop it.

The really really short list of things to question HCMH about is his tendency to leave in the starters in games that are out of hand. With that, and I may be overthinking this, I'm going to take a stab at being devil's advocate.
It looks like the last 2 weeks we brought in a backup QB the first series after they did. I've wondered if this isn't related to our UNH experience 2 years ago. Maybe it's saying that if you want to call off the dogs we will, but we're not going to throw our subs in against your first team until we're at the point where there just isn't time enough left for you to catch up no matter what happens?
Still doen't explain the passing with a 40+ lead though. :-)

No reason to run exclusively with your backups just because Richmond’s team can’t stop them. Any coach who gets bitter about another team running up the score is a bad coach.

Absolutely correct.
And as the winning coach I want to let my backups have a meaningful experience practicing whatever I want them to work on. I'm not going to sit on the ball, and I want the 2nd and 3rd teamers to try and score if at all possible.

Some of the few RU fans left in the 4th quarter were begging/asking for a "running clock" which is basically the same thing as a mercy rule.
I thought they might pull an Oduh and ask for a 55 minute game

I wanted 80 points. I think I might have been the only person in the stadium cheering for every first down in the 4th quarter. Oh man, I wanted 80 points.

This might be a good place to insert UNH coach McDonnell screaming F bombs across the field as JMU was pounding them with no mercy.

Didn’t that exchange occur after Houston chose not to score a late TD, then UNH tried their hardest and scored a TD on the final play?
