Questions about Tailgating at Tulane
Hey Tulane guys, I'm headed to the Memphis-Tulane game Friday night. Memphis Alumni have a tailgating party set up in Newcomb Quad from 5-7 pm, but I would like to arrive earlier and check out how the Green Wave folks tailgate. And maybe take a few videos and photos of anything unusual, interesting or exciting.

Any suggestions on where best to wander around campus? Last time I was there, I saw a few great frat parties going on, but I probably could mingle better with alums, since I'm 71 and "fluffy," lol. Students might think I'm a perv with a camera... 03-lmfao

Also, I'm staying in an Airbnb on Pritchard Place, about 2 miles from campus. Should I walk in from there, or take Uber? Thanks.

I assume that you're on the portion of Pritchard Place near Versailles Blvd. In that case I would just walk down Versailles and across Claiborne Ave to campus. Not a long walk and some nice homes in that area.

You'll be sharing the Newcomb Quad with student tailgating. The rest of the tailgate is on the LBC Quad, which is right next to Newcomb Quad. Just a little street separating them.

Everything is pretty much right there. I assume that you already have a game ticket, because there is also this:

Superior Seafood on St Charles is a good bet, about half way between the Garden Dist & Tulane.

Have you been to Brigtsen's?

Went there a few years ago. Great experience & food. Not far from Tulane.

I'm staying on Pritchard Place near Leonidas, about 2 miles from the Newcomb Quad and 1.7 miles or so from Yulman. I'm thinking it's not good to walk back there after the game, so I should take Uber or Lyft.

And yes, I do have a game ticket. :)

If you have never been to Mandina's I'd recommend that. We go everytime were in NO. Known for Turtle Soup. My mother in law would go there growing up for sandwiches -- its been around forever.

Good old fashions too if you wanted to get your tailgate started right 04-cheers

Mandina's is great but not anywhere near campus. Honestly not a whole lot of places right on St. Charles, but if you head down some side streets you'll find good stuff. Keep in mind New Orleanians don't really go out for New Orleans food. We make that at home. But some stuff I'd recommend in the general vicinity of Tulane and around the path there from downtown would be Lilly's Cafe, Gris Gris, Domilise's, Jamila's, Camellia Grill, Atchafalaya, Rum House, Felipe's, Magasin, and Casamento's. Lots of different types of food in that list.

And by the way you can get some Superior Grill and Superior Seafood stuff in Yulman Stadium (frozen French 75's and pulled pork nachos are my favorites).

Thanks. I'll check out some of those. Coming down Thursday, staying until Sunday, with a side trip to the Ole Miss-LSU tailgate on Saturday.

PJ's was acceptable coffee - not bad at all, but not amazing IMO.

I'm a big fan of Frankie and Johnny's - it's a dive bar a few blocks west of Henry Clay. Very affordable food that tastes above average.

Just a thought, and nothing against the OP, but maybe we should create a 'where do we stay, eat, and tailgate' for each school and let the fans of those schools chime in and pin it at the top? I know I have a ton of recommendations for UH.

I think that's a good idea.

We ate at Rum House tonight for dinner thanks to your suggestion. Did not disappoint!
