Cheers.

Fact is a little perspective is needed here...

For all these reasons App fans *REALLY* wanted this one:
-We view USM as a peer institution and have a great deal of respect for your history.
-we're still salty about the last game
-we just came off trouncing another CUSA team after being passed over by the conference.
-we've heard ad nauseum how much better CUSA is than the Sunbelt

But App fans need to understand the logistics of moving a game. Just because one match up did it doesn't mean it's feasible for all ESPECIALLY when factoring in contractual terms obligations.

USM has done/is doing exactly what the contract states they have to do...which is reschedule at a future date. They're under no obligation to facilitate a massive change and to posit they're simply avoiding a loss is silly. That's P5 talk. BUT with the go anywhere play anyone attitude some schools ascribe to it could have been done. Perhaps this is the pervrbeal first shot that sparks a regular rivalry. If so, while not true it could be entertaining for years.

Just be happy you didn't move to this conference. The Sunbelt is at least on par with our conference. Some years better.

You offered Chattanooga and Finley Stadium. Where 20 people would show up and the stadium is horrid. It was completed in 1997 but isn't owned by the school, its owned by the city and they don't do many upgrades to the facility. I would have declined that offer too.

There has also been talk about evicting UTC in favor of an MLS team in the past year or so.

My opinion so far of these Appy fans...I kinda like the brashness, but not so much the irrationalism.

It’s a mixed bag of admiration and “bless your heart.”

Guess I should have been flattered when SlAppy first moved up one of the 1st questions their fans ask was who do you wanna play now. The #1 response was Marshall followed by ECU.

Here is the thing for Appy fans, I would assume that most Marshall fans myself included forgot about playing Appy the day we joined the MAC.

Appy fans wanna talk about the games with Marshall, lets start in 1987 the year Marshall made its 1st national championship game, this was when Marshall couldn't be seen as an automatic win anymore:

1987 Appy 17-10
1987 Playoffs Marshall 24-10 **Marshall National Championship Game
1988 Marshall 30-27
1989 Appy 28-7
1990 Marshall 50-0
1991 Appy 9-3 **Marshall National Championship Game
1992 Appy 37-34 **Marshall National Champions
1993 Marshall 34-3 **Marshall National Championship Game
1994 Appy 24-14
1995 Appy 10-3 **Marshall National Championship Game
1996 Marshall 24-10 **Marshall National Champions Ranked #1 the whole season
2002 Marshall 50-17 **Only game between IA Marshall and IAA Appy, Byron Leftwich threw for 505 yards that game.

The total points scored for those games are Marshall 283, Appy 182.

Right. We were enamored with CUSA's (then) reputation. A lot has changed.

I haven't been to Carter Finley since 2005. It sounds like not much has changed since then.

Not sure about USM but unless the wheels fall off I doubt App will NEED this game for bowl eligibility. Kinda makes you wish OOC games weren't set 4 or 5 years in advance that way we could settle it next year.

Thanks for pointing out that App had a winning record for the last 10 years while we were peers. BTW the all time record is 14-8 App.

Marshall fans want to talk about games in which they had a 22 scholarship advantage and/or committing NCAA violations.

App fans wanted to play Marshall more than ECU? Yep the App fans are irrational.

Look at the fun we’re having, sorry you guys picked others.

Would App take a football only invite and send the rest of your sports to the Big South or something where they belong? I don't know if the SoCon would take you back w/o football.

clt hates to bring this issue up because it is sensitive for the appys. clt can report that southern miss ducked appy due to the ice situation in the stands at appys little stadium with a track.

1987 Playoffs Marshie 24-10 **Marshie National Championship Game
1988 Marshie 30-27

1996 Marshie 24-10 **Marshie National Champions Ranked #1 the whole season

Typical Marshie fan. Wants to start counting W's & L's once they finally got decent and just forget all about the 7-2 record in favor of App from 1978-86. Then in order to get to a .500 record he tosses in a game when they were 1A. I don't have the words to describe that kind of twisted thinking. In reality what he's really saying is even during the Herd's glory years with all those national championships and scoring all those points, Marshie still couldn't muster a winning record against the Mountaineers. That's ALL that needs to be said.
BTW, don't know where you are getting your info, but Marshie was not the first school App fans wanted to play. You we're in the top 10, but a good bit behind Wake, ECU, unc-ch, NC State & Duke.

Trust me we are. Always had a lot of admiration for USM and being a Green Bay fan I have some love in my heart for you guys producing the 2nd best QB in Packer history, behind Bart Starr. Feel badly for you guys and Rice. Y'all are the two guys that really got screwed during the restructuring deal. Would love to be in a conference with you, but not with most of your conference mates. Hopefully we can get this worked out. Good luck the rest of the way.

No. Why dump the rest of our olympic sports in an even worse one bid league full of small privates just to play in CUSA football?

2nd best QB behind Bart Starr. Hahaha
Brett would probably agree with that.
