4. SMU (5.81)
5. UConn (5.94)
6. Memphis (5.94)
7. WSU (6.06)
8. Temple (6.44)

This middle part will be fun. ~.5 places separate 4-8 on the average.

Not trash talking but I don’t see UCF-Cincinnati-Houston as being above the fray here either. As I’ve said the American will be a knife fight this year.

UCF is definitely in the fray...
I'm a believer in gradual increases or drastic changes (new coach or addition of multiple elite players)

There is no drastic change in UCF just players getting healthy.. a coach who has never coached a dominant team ever, with players who have never been on a dominant team.. are now expected to dominate ...I personally love ucfs roster, see them easily top 4, but I don't see them being the team to beat

If we have 5 or 6 tourney teams UC and Houston are in the fray(meaning everyone is playing at an elite level).. but if we are a 2 bid league I don't think UC and Houston are in the fray

There is a very high floor for the worst they could be...
80% of UC projected impact players were on their team last year, let's not act like there was a huge defensive drop when Clark went to the bench ...their defense will carry them above any non tourney caliber team

Same for Houston, the defense and elite rebounding are still on the team ...

I should have said “so far above the fray”. Houston and Cincinnati have good players and coaches who know how to get the most out of them and should be considered favorites. However whereas Cincinnati was a clear favorite last year I believe the playing field is more even this year.

UCONN will be better than expected. Hurley can coach.

I’m not saying they didn’t live up to being the top team last year. All I’m saying is they were picked preseason first by a point and we’re a basket away from being the 2 seed in the conference tournament.

They were deserved of their accolades. I’m just saying it wasn’t clear going in.

I'm just messing with you. It's a fair point. UC was picked first. Nationally a lot of people had WSU first. Both were appropriately well regarded.
